boat,better weapons and am sinking a lot

I just started the game and i just got the first bigger boat the long boat and i am sinking a lot what am i doing wrong and when do i get a bigger and better boat and weapons thanks

Sonya longboat? What kind of material are you using for the hull? How much free space do you have, how many guns and what type are you using?

yes metal idk and mk1 and mk2 machine guns and flack cannon

I would lose the flak and go all MGs (or all cannons). As you're doing your quests pick enemies off at a distance, try not to let them get close. Check your amount of free space, the metal hull is better for damage resistance but not if it's leaving you no free space, plus it's slower, wood might actually be a better choice at this stage of the game. If there's a particular quest you're having trouble with holla on discord, I'm there more than here. But at the moment instanced quests seem to be bugged for groups

One mistake a lot of people make starting out is overloading the boat. At the bottom you see your "life bar" of sorts. The heavier your boat is, the less leftover room you have to take on water. If your boat fills with water you sink. You might be tempted to go with a metal hull but as Kick said, wooden hull leaves a lot more room for water so you won't sink as fast.

An important thing I learned from the loading screen after a few days of playing, hit spacebar when u take big damage to enter emergency mode where all crew repairs and u pump water. I don't remember actually learning that in game but thankfully I saw it on a loading screen.

It definitely teaches it. Always got that chick shouting at you to go into emergency mode too. Probably like my mate, too busy skipping what the NPC's say lol.
