Nice! Only speaking for me of course, but imho better than nothing.
Doesn't matter to me if the performance is worse than through Proton or Windows. A native port is still preferred.
I could say I have lowered my opinion of Unity but that is hard to do considering my dislike for it. In any case i'll pass on the Proton. Best of luck !
I'm not sure how this would work with Unity exactly, but you could look into using DXVK Native. It's DirectX 9/10/11 to Vulkan (same as Proton uses) except for native Linux titles. Portal 2 uses this to provide Vulkan support as of a recent update and it's very fast.
