Where is the gold coin behind Chip (the axe fella on Isle 1)?

That's it. I beat all the bosses on Isle 1, went to Isle 2 to do more levels, learned that a coin would be behind Chip after all the Isle 1 bosses were done, and then went back to get it; no coin. Is this a glitch? Am I screwed out of a coin now?
