Today let's talk about the scenery in the product.
Let's skip by the incomplete sets and the pieces that don't align and the simplified textures. Instead let's just focus on the content.
To me there are a reasonable number of pieces but the issue is that so much of it is heavily themed they loose their flexibility to do different things. And so many items are one directional they just don't repeat well. And the lack of generic things like different planks and columns without a lot of extra things on them is limiting.
It would help if all the decorations were in a single menu instead of being scattered around as they are.

Tell us your thoughts on the subject.

I don't feel a lack of generic pieces is necessarily responsible for the lack of creativity. Just look online at some of the amazing content that has been created with the current pieces. I feel that more themes will address the wider problem however I agree 100% we do need many more generic pieces also.

The lack of themes is also in my view responsible for the lack of ride blueprints included with the game. The sheer number of rides that don't have a default blueprint is disappointing to say the least.

Coasters aside, There is a huge lack of content throughout the game, I won't go into the non existent management aspect here but I agree there is a huge gap to fill when it comes to Themes, Scenery and generic pieces.

As for the content creators,

I have only seen Tubers mocking the community for complaining about the lack of themes. The majority of Tubers are just marketing shills at this point with the rare exception who have called out Frontier. One even said openly they are risking their affiliation with them because they called out the latest DLC. Not a positive signal for the future of the franchise.

Yeah, tubers, as you call them, are generally biased in favor the content creators to keep getting the freebies and such so they can put new stuff out and collect some ad revenue. Really not reliable sources of info...
I did watch Rudi's last vid on Planco2 and he summed up the community feeling pretty well. But he too had to give a few obvious fake props to Frontier.

I would say, id be happy with the amount of content for a bare bones release, however, that is only provided, the game had a very good gameplay loop, for management, where i can mix things up between scenery, guest happiness, management, pricing, all the things that go into the hardest difficulty of this genre.

however, having said that, planet coaster 2, does not have any form of management, no care for the guests, no real need to change pricing, and because alot of the game is either broken buggy or just has terrible game mechanics, such as ride inspections, ive ended up leaning heavily onto scenery to beautify my park, and because of that i would say no. the game doesnt have enough scenery by along stretch.

Ive heard content creators, the devs even players in this forum say theres alot of flexibility iof variation, beyond just the viking stuff, but in truth, not really. you have to be a brilliant detailer, to manipulate pieces in a way where its no longer the original theme the piece was made for.
People do, and thats great, but for me, theres a real lack in diversity, and the 1 asset pack i would have expected on release, is just a generic set of scenery, that doesnt have a theme. a wide spread of pieces that you can do literally anything with.

the biggest issue ive found with scenery thus far is how bad the lighting is. Every light barely emits any light at all, and the spotlights arnt great either. I have rides id love to light up at night, but it just isnt possible.
I also think, frontier should overhaul lighting in general, and include intensity / spread and distance as 3 slider parameters for lighting, so you dont get limited on the style of light, based upon the amount of light emitted.

Agree with you My biggest issue currently is the lack of lighting pieces and as you noted, some of them just don’t produce much light.

Yeah, the lights are kind of not great. But we have an okay selection of them. One major issue with the lights is that most are not triggerable. That means no fun lighting in stations or on dark rides.

To be clear, I'm not saying we can't do some nice things with what we have. It's more about the limits the choice of shapes and textures put on the pieces. Obviously they are holding on to more theme sets for dlc but let's hope they pay attention and vary things a lot more. And have what the community considers a full set of building pieces.

all i really want is all the basic generic shapes (3d and flat), independent x,y,z, scaling. the ability to toggle the generic shapes into either a point light source, or at the very least an emitting surface.

after that, a simple stand alone point light. and after that, the ability to adjust the intensity of any lights that are in the game.
after that, the ability to mirror pieces. (i found you cant when i tried to mirror a turtle on a wall. yes you can flip it, but its not the same as mirroring. and mirroring being left out? ooooof)

if just all the basic shapes and x,y,z, scaling were included, it would make nothing impossible to build. however i suspect the reason they didnt include that is just for that reason. if you can build whatever you want (no matter how tedious it would be), then they dont get to charge an arm and a leg for new scenery down the road... and clearly thats the mindset here. a dlc machine.

To add to the comments, we still can't individually change the colors of cars on a ride. All the cars have to be the same color. We had this feature back with the original RCT1

I think one of the worst offenders is the Resort hanging lights? I think that's the correct scenery. There's a prebuilt coaster station that at night it's *completely* dark inside it because of those lights. They don't even put a spot on the ground.

I was also sad about the flower lights that can go on walls (actually both can but I don't mean the standing lamps). The butterfly lights in the... errr.. Jungle pack? South America pack from Planet Zoo. Those lights were *amazing*. You could put Aura glow around areas or only display part of the butterfly and have this massive lighting texture to items. Used to use them with my animal memorials that people would stop at.

No vista points in this game? I find that rather odd. Why would you leave it out? Sadly, just lots of questions over here.

I agree with the original post. Almost all scenery items are so specific, almost proprietary, and grossly cartoonish. I miss the more industrial looking pieces from PC1 and don't feel like going online to look up a bunch of creator content stuff that should have just come with the base game.
