ATTENTION: GAME WILL CLOSE DOWN NOVEMBER 30th!
Hoi Chummers,
it is with great sadness, that we have to announce the servers for SR:C will have to be closed by end of November and the game will cease to exist.

Our license for the title has run its course and with no money to show for the game, Microsoft has not exactly been jumping at the chance to renew it.

On top, the persistent ransomware attacks on our servers have becomne too much work to fend off in order to operate the game, which has barely been covering the server cost for some time.

It has been an honour and a privilege to work on Shadowrun and with the people in the community, who have honestly been one of the best things about SR throughout the years. I want to thank Crunch personally for sticking around and being a great pillar of the community, but of course there are a number of others who deserve a mention - Emelt, SevenBLueSeven, SmileyCyrus, Rentier and all of the great volunteers who helped with the last patch and worked on making things more interesting.

Working on SR has been a dream come true (and a nightmare with the botched launch) and though it may not have been a great success, the game was a labor of love for me. Leaving some small legacy in the form of the Boston Lockdown becoming part of the rich history of SR (of course the plot would have been nothing without Scott Schletz working his ass off to make it into the great Camapign book) still makes me proud.

This will also conclude my decade at Cliffhanger and trying to make decent games with integrity and woking on things I love. It has been a wild ride...and the best of it has been getting know the people in our community through the years.

I will continue to make games (actually one is coming up for next year I can't talk about yet) and I also operate a small board game venture with Underground Games [www.undergroundgames.de], which is about to release the Jagged Alliance Board Game, which you can order exclusively from our site.

I will miss all of you, so I will stick around the forums and you can always reach out.

See you in the Shadows

Hoi primetide, thanks for Shadowrun Chronicles. I have to say I fall in love with Chronicles. Story, humor, tactical elements, RPG elements... i have enjoyed and love all of it.

Please lets try to find the way to keep that running even as community version.
I can imagine I could personally help and I believe there will be others.
So first question: does option to keep it running exist (even as community version)?
And consequently: What does it require?

Sidenote;
this information should be announced also at Steam Store page of the game. So potential new customers/players will know it may soon close down the servers...

Well, we are no longer allowed to operate it due to the license...we do own the code and theoretically we can dump that somewhere and people can simply try and get it to work, but we cannot be involved in this and I would think twice to try and operate something that partially is owned by Microsoft...

So here is an idea then.... how about STEAM take over the server? Like other games did when Games For Windows Live thing went away? We love the game. I'm even thinking about a subscription thing to implement if need be?

Anyway ... It's indeed sad, sad and I will hate this event forever :(!
But will always remember the fun moments with the game :)!

I'd sub it.

I'd be all for paying a monthly fee myself long as it wasn't over 10 bucks or so or something of that nature. I've enjoyed the game enmensely and was sad to see the development get cut off like it did initially anyway. I really think this game could've been alot more with more backing, heck we kickstarted it to begin with, we should be allowed to fund our own servers or some such regardless, and valve spends tons of defunct game servers or making game priv server enabled..

the sub option might even give incentive to get more into the game even maybe some...development maybe, it's a longshot, I know you guys can only work on spare time as is.

Uhg,. it's on sale on fanatical.com right now. That's pretty greasy.

Wish this game was continued if anything, not totally cancelled.

I'll post more later, but need a moment to sort this out... Wow. :orcsad:

Wish it had a level editor, and let users run a server.

Dude, let me tell you one thing, Prime and his crew, are far from greasy. Not sure how those things operate, but a greasy tactic is not their style. I am not sure. But I am pretty sure, that Prime stated long ago, owners of the game would still be able to play the game by themselves. so a loclaized version, just the servers and multiplay would be gone. I do hope that is the case, at least. I can't imagine losing this game forever.

Also,if you do pen n paper Shadowrun, the Boston Lockdown resource book is REALLY good stuff. I love it. I have the hardback, not sure if their is a pdf or not. But that might be something you can still get, as well.
