My Pinky Is Killing Me!
So is there no way to have the horse gallop at anything faster than a snails pace without mashing the run key? Seriously, I know full running drains the horses stamina but at least in RDR2 you could tap the run key to go up to the fastest run speed and it'd stay there, then hold run to go fastest speed.

You can turn on 'hold to sprint' in the settings.

Tried it, I don't know if the option is working. The switch for hold on foot doesn't seem to make any change at all, either way you have to hold the button down to run the whole time.

The only difference it makes for the horses is that yes the horse will run right away but they run at full gallop and drain stamina, and you have to hold the button down the whole time.

You don't need to mash it. Tap it once every three or four seconds.

When the stamina for the horse gets low then release the button and the stamina fills back up quickly then hold it down again, repeat. Ever since I turned on the option noted I've not had an issue.

rebind horse sprint to spacebar, and jump to shift

if your finger is killing you for tapping a button a couple times a minute you may want to start taking some vitamins and reducing your acid intake..
