A serious question - what is the current projected "month" where we will be getting close to release?

As a day 1 EA player - I think we deserve a rough answer as to where we are at.

I know you are aiming for the tail end of 2015 - but this is very wishy-washy.

When I first bought the game in EA, it was stated 3-4 months was required - that was a year ago. Since then the EA text has changed ( - ignore the anti-derek text, I couldn't find one without...)

Obviously this is a big change, and it still feels at least a year away until we get close?

I've lost my faith it'll ever happen, or at least happen while I still have the vaguest bit of interest.

With all the recent "derek vs CIG" stuff - and his "get a refund" advice, considering the above his advice is starting to apply here...

...Do we have any idea when it will be ready? or is the reality "we simply don't know" - in which case, why was it originally advertised as 2014?

There's a pinned State of Play thread that explains the roadmap:

Hey Commander (your EA tier[]) Plague:

Since you bought this EA tier back in Sept 2014, you should already be aware of all this. So since you have valid questions, here are some answers:

The reason the FAQ was revised is because it didn't match the version on the Steam store front.

The game is in early access, with a staggered release schedule[] which we have been doing REGULARLY[], and has no firm release date; hence the statements on the store front, and on the website FAQ.

And regardless of the corrected differences, the text regarding the delays, even by Valve's own EA guidelines, remain unchanged.

And yes - I can keep it in EA for as long as is needed for the game to be completed to my liking. I am in no hurry. That's what Early Access is.

This is not crowd-funding. So those people making up this crap and trying to - again - compare to Star Citizen - are barking up the wrong tree and again comparing Apples to Oranges.

Even so, we have released more of this game for testing since Sept 2014, than they have (with $88m + 500 people) since they missed the Nov 2014 deadline.

And no, it's not one year away.

If you WANT a refund, go ahead and show this post to Valve customer service indicating that I have approved that you are to be given a full no-questions-asked refund.

Though your purchased limited time only Commander EA Tier[] gave you access to four of my Steam games (valued at $60) and physical goods (valued at $3.99 and which we have already fullfilled to everyone; including you), they may refuse your refund request. If that happens, I can override that if they contact us directly.

In the event of a refund, you may keep the games, keep the goods.

Just remember that once this refund is completed, you will never be able to get into the game again since we use Steam and our own backend account authentication. You don't get to keep free stuff, then come back. :)

Thanks for your support

Let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. In the meantime, please see below.

Read it here[]

Why Early Access?

The game has been in development by a small team since it was conceived almost four years ago. It is fully self-funded by our small studio. As such, we don’t have the benefit of the team size required to playtest a game of this scope; an MMO no less.

Further, we simply do not have the resources required to host servers for everybody and thus make it a PBT (Public Beta Test).

So, we decided to use a combination of Steam’s backend services as well as our own custom ones, to host and deploy the game to a select group of people who are interested in helping us make the game the best that it can be.

You – in the targeted select group – are probably interested in this sort of game, especially now that you have the chance to shape the final stages of such a massive game, rather than just running around and shooting things.

How long will this game be in Early Access?

It’s ready when it’s ready. Right now it ain’t ready.

Like you, we love Valve, so what other way to honor their awesomeness than to officially support Valve Time?

We’re looking to run the Early Access program for the few months leading up to the release of the final version in mid to late 2015.

Of course, this being game development, delays can and most likely will happen. However, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. Besides, with regular updates, you probably won’t even care when the final version is released since you will be part of the on-going development process and thus have access to our builds. Remember, the game is not just going into development; it has been in development for over four years now and we’re just racing through that last mile.

When will these games release?

Its up to the developer to determine when they are ready to 'release'. Some developers have a concrete deadline in mind, while others will get a better sense as the development of the game progresses. You should be aware that some teams will be unable to 'finish' their game. So you should only buy an Early Access game if you are excited about playing it in its current state.

Thank you for your reply.

I won't be asking for a refund yet, as I will see how the year pans out in regards to further development and if there's any sign of a "rough release ETA" in Nov / Dec

This type of game is what I live for - Planetside 1 was and still is my all time favourite - so if it ends up delivering then I will be happy, I'm just concerned that it will continue to slip and enter into the unknown / if it will be finished at the end of it.

I can of course say that you wanting to take as long as it takes is the right approach, (better than releasing an Arkham Knight...) - but was concerned due to the length from the original text.

Your concerns are 100% valid; and I didn't want to make light of them by giving you a short answer, so I felt that as someone who was in from the very beginning, you deserved more than that.

We're a small indie team working on a massive game.

The team will grow again next month because we're going to be redoing some of the assets (aircraft, weapons) which I am not happy with. In fact, I have trashed all the old 3D cockpit placeholders seen in older alpha shots, and will be showing shots of the final ones in an upcoming State Of Play.

Also, with the behavior system and scripting finished for the NPC android Hostile Intent[] as PT1 of that task, we're now onto aircraft unlocks.

My plan is to get the aircrafts in for public testing as part of the next major build in Sept. Then vehicles. Then the Hostile Intent world event which is PT2 of the behavior task mentioned above will go live. Then it will be pure mayhem with fps infantry, aerial/space combat, vehicles (including naval).

My upcoming State Of Play will provide more info. But it's coming along and for such a massive project, there was no other way to develop, test (internally, and public), release etc without running into a game that's too buggy at release. As a Planetside player, I am quite certain that you're familiar with this problem.

Rest assured, this game will never enter into the "unknown" territory. I tend to release all my games. You already own four of them, even if they're not your cup of tea :)

Again, thanks for your support.

I think you're going be very happy. :)

As a tier owner, you have access to create ALL and ANY kind of the 21 aircraft (fighters, gunships, shuttles). In space (inside station, carrier) or on the planet (next to a launch pad)

Starter Kit owners can't create them. But we will have some in the scenes (over by the ARC) for them to pick-up, like with the packs.
