This FAQ entry is a quick start guide[]

Don't even think of joking around with this. If your system isn't up to snuff, you won't be able to run the game as it was intended.

The published system requirements[] aren't there for show or to make you feel good about your 2009 machine which you claim runs Crysis with everything maxed to the hilt.

They're real.

And complaining about it isn't going to magically make your machine any more powerful or the game any less taxing. Though if you do manage to pull off that feat (complaining and/or crying about it), I'd like to know how you did it because I'm curious like that.

Anyway, to help you along, the game is now up on CanYouRunIt[]. Go over there and run the tests to ensure that your system is up to snuff.

If you want to know what to upgrade, your first option should be memory, then GPU, then CPU.

The game commands, full docs, maps etc are located on this page[]. They are also available within the game via hotkeys. F4 (commands), F5 (manual), F6 (quick help)

For printing, we also include the PDF versions. The Steam installer should do a silent install of these, though for some reason it doesn't always do it. If this fails for whatever reason (e.g. OS permissions), please follow this procedure to install them.

Look in the Steam's game install folder e.g.

C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\LineOfDefense

There you will see LOD_steam_shortcuts.exe

Run that file to do a silent install of the docs and other resources

You can then locate this folder in Start/3000AD/Line Of Defense Docs

You can view the game's changelog online[] or from within the game in the launcher or ESCAPE menu.

I write blogs[] and news[] updates from time to time in order to give the current dev status and other bits of news.

Some important ones are :

11/16 Engine Switch, Milestone Update[]
10/15 Milestone Update[]
09/15 Milestone Update[]
07/15 Milestone Update[]
03/15 Initial Steam Test[]
12/13 Custom Engine Details[]

10/16 Early Access key invalidated[]
04/16 Switch To Closed Beta Test[]

Also, note that if you got into the game via free play weekend or the new CBT, you will only have a Starter Kit[]. Until the final game is released and the Tactical Advancement Kits[] are unlocked, you can only purchase one of the three Early Access[] tiers.

This means that with a F2P Starter Kit, you won't have access to unlocked items such as jetpack or wingsuit/wingchute

As of Build[] (Released 15-04-24) if you have a Starter Kit[] (for example, from the CBT), you can obtain other items by looking for and interacting (F) with the Portable Supply Pack[], Portable Weapon Pack[] or Portable Medical Pack[], located on the planet, in the stations and on the carrier.
