Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps

Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps

For the devs: How soon?
Any idea how long it will be until the game is out of EA? I want to buy this game really bad, but the fact that it's been in EA this long worries me.

The thing that worries me more is that the last update is from February...

Missed this here, but here's an abreviated post from the Beta area, from less than a month ago. The rest can be seen there.

We are working on finalizing the next beta update. As such we hope that you will accept our sincere apologies in the delay in getting this next beta drop to you which will focus on significant AI improvements to make the game more challenging and enjoyable.

Thank you once again for being such a great community, we are looking forward to getting this next beta update out and into your hands as you are to play it.

The game's in beta, then? That's good to know; then it shouldn't be too long hopefully, until I'm blasting enemy mechs and leaving piles of scrap metal in my wake.
You will be waiting a long time.

Technically we are still in alpha I would say. Steam uses the term beta for the prerelease builds so that is why it is called a beta update. The terms alpha and beta are hard to gauge anymore since they don't mean anymore what they did 10 years ago :) Beta seems to change definitions depending on what site you are on. I am speaking old definition of alpha as for our game state. We are currently rewriting what is up there with new engine and other improvements.

So it's going to take a while then? In that case, as one of the devs, do you recommend buying it now, or waiting until it's complete to buy it?

If you are on the fence I would say wish list it and just check back from time to time. I don't want you to feel like you paid when you should not have yet. But it really depends on if you want to get in early on development or wait til its a more established game. Early Access is best for the community providing feedback to help mold the game. If you are not interested in helping in that way, then definitely wait.

Two final questions, and these are the two deciding factors for me.

1. What's the status of the single-player campaign? Is it complete, or is it a work-in-progress?

2. Any third-party DRM present? Are there plans to have it present?

It is still a work in progress and no third party DRM. There is another thread here where i talk more in depth but the TL;DR; version is we have no current plans for third party DRM but I can't promise 100% in rare cases out of our control.
