Status Update January 2018!
Happy New Year!

Yeah, I know it is a week late or so, but we hope that you all had a great holiday season.

Today we released a new update to the public beta. In this update we focused mainly on bug fixes and optimization. Some issues we squashed include fixing some weapons that had unlimited ammo along with weapons that ignored cool downs. We also changed our skyboxes over to a more performant solution and removed some debugging from networking code to improve lag issues. The list goes on but would be to extensive for a short post. However, we are certain once you play the game you will see the improvements.

So, what's next?

This month engineering is going to be focused on cleaning up some AI issues and how we handle overheating.

Our goals for AI this pass will be to clean up an issue with pathing as well as fixing an issue that causes the AI to stop moving or attacking until attacked. Once those are completed we can focus our attention on making them more dynamic.

We will also be working on a new heat system for the Mechs. Currently when weapons are fired, heat is absorbed by the Mech and when overloaded all weapons systems shutdown and speed is reduced. We feel that this can be very frustrating for players, but at the same time it is part of balancing weapons and loadouts. Our solution will be to make heat buildup localized to each weapon. This means each weapon will have its own heat tracking system and only that weapon will be disabled when it is in an overload state. All other weapons that have not reached the overload state will continue to fire, and mech speed and other systems will be un-affected.

We believe the new heat system will cause less frustration for the player and promote more diversified loadouts as well as weapon groupings.

The art team is whipping up some cool stuff we hope to show you guys in the near future as well. New Mech chassis anyone?

Thanks for your continued patience and support!

Cheers!
