How is the gameplay in skirmish mode against AI bots? Are there levels of difficulty for the AI?
Having an offline mode that lets me play against bots is what I'm looking for. I'd like to know if it's fun in that it's challenging but not so hard as to be frustrating. I'm not that leet you see.

Thanks

Right now there isn't much for the AI in the beta channel, but it's something they're working on.

Thanks for responding so quickly to my question. I imagine creating/implementing capable AI is tough and I don't envy you, but many people (myself included) just like the satisfaction of fighting against AI intead of other players.

Thanks again

We are working on Singleplayer as well as Multiplayer so that anyone who does not want to play online with other players can still play the game. The singleplayer campaign will be available both online and offline. What I mean by that is if you play it with steam in online mode you will contribute to the faction wars just like people in multiplayer do as well as get server updates on the war situation that helps drive what missions are available to play at that time. If you play offline (which we do not have implemented yet) then you will only affect your local copy of the game. All of this is for the new version we are working on. The current live version will not receive any updates as we are working to replace it with the new improved version. But with that said right now you can play against bots with it as well. As DeMyztikX mentioned the bots are a bit basic at the moment and we are working on improving them as we go.

Sorry, I was on the phone last night and wasn't able to respond better, but I wanted to at least say something right away. I knew Tim would get to a much better answer as soon as he could.

That really sucks. This sort of system comlpetely ruined Helldivers for me. PLEASE give a proper campaign. I don't want to contribute to an online faction war at all. I want my campaign/war progress to be entirely local and uneffected by other players or the community, and I don't want to have to set Steam to offline mode whenever I want to play the game.

I'm not familiar with Helldivers, but reading about it it seems like not quite the same thing. AFAIK they haven't mentioned anything like the Defend events or any faction eliminations. Not sure what specifically you didn't like about Helldivers or where the comparison is being made. Have you played the single player missions that were avalible?
