Succession Game!
Hello all, and welcome to this succession game thread for WoM!

Those of you wondering what a succession game is, it's a game where multiple people pass a save file around and each player plays a certain number of turns (usually 15) before passing the file to the next player. It only works in turn-based games. It can be a bit of a spectator sport, where each player writes up a little about the things they did during their round! It's a fun way to play, it involves the community, and it spreads knowledge of tactics and strategies around!

I'd like to start a succession game when the game launches on 19th March! (The hope is that, at launch, our savegames will last a fair amount of time between patches).

Sorceror Lord: Random!
Planes: PMP (3 continents), Fire (pangea), Water (islands), Shadow (pangea)
Feature density: Scarce* Common
Resources: Common
Neutrals: Common
Difficulty: Archmage
Opponents: 5
World size: Large
Fast movement: No

So, I'll load up my random number generator**... assign a number to each Lord, and who will the new Lord of our Human city be...?

Neve!

Neve is a young mage, but has mastered the circle of water with unbelievable speed. She primary uses those skills to seek out one danger after another, being prone to a highly risky behavior type as a partial result of her low attention span and desire for excitement.'

Neve has great potential for our game. Her Luck helps us avoid those negative events, and her Mystic ability will help power her main strength... her nine levels in the Water sphere. In the early game we'll have access to Ice Bolt, Phantom Warriors and Psionic Blast. Mid-game we gain Magic Affinity! Late game we can look forward to Slow Time and Great Unsummoning.

Roll on the 19th...! :)

* = If the devs tweak the number of settlers we get from Features before launch, I'll tweak this value up a notch to Common.

Sounds like interesting. Sign me up then. As for races and lord. I'm always using custom so I think it should be better for all players to join together and think of what should be the lord setup. As for races. I am partial to Orcs for fast expansion and Draconains for elementalists. But there is still 2 races left to test.

Welcome aboard Elhazzared! (I recognise one of your relatives that lives over on the prime material plane - Alhasret, I think his name was?)

Interesting point about the future races. On one hand it'd be a great way to test the new races. On the other hand, we might want to use a well-tested race, so that the game isn't sabotaged lol.

Well yeah but some of us will get access to the full content before the 19th (i'm hoping to be one of them) so some will be able to test it prior to that. If we implement a rule that says, you can only send the save file 24 hours after the last one was sent so we keep it 15 turns per days, the people with no access to the race will be the last ones to take the turns so they will have a few days to test out the race and learn their quirks.

Of course this doesn't means you have to go with a new race, i'm just putting the possibillity that quite a few of us might want to.

Certainly, sign me up. I prefer Lords commanding elves with at least one rank of life plus 9 ranks in water or whatever else with perks in warlord/alchemy or mentor with the blue clor flag.

Sure, I'll come along for the ride! Yes I like goody wizards, but will play anything. Elves are good! Alchemy is a must I reckon, I also like archmage; Something with a summon early on is also good as well.

I'm leaning more towards using one of the default wizards for our first playthrough. They're kinda part of the game universe and I think it'd be cool to be playing as one of them. I also think that we'll never be able to satisfy everyone with a custom wizard, so we may as well use a default one

I dunno, I just don't like default wizards. There are a few things I don't like to play without like merchant + alechemist and I don't like being limited to their spell selection because usually you can do something better.

merchant and alchemist is almost a must I reckon.. good combination! What spell circle / circles? I do like life and earth, but they are all good!

I like pretty much all spell circles except death. I always think it's better to have a full circle because it's often good to start with level 3 spells. There are normally a couple spells I like to go for early. Fire elemental or heroism. They are too good to say no in my opinion as they allow you to easily take neutral cities and some terrain features. I also always liket o take ascetic, butcher and tyrant since they are not so bad a negative trait that can give you easy points. Of course on release there will probably be more disciplines for you to take on.

Earth can have acid elemental as a summons.. but I agree, I don't like death too much, but just because I can't bring myself to be too evil! lol!

I think one of the main reasons not to use alchemist and merchant are because they're cheesy! :)

We don't want a boring game now, do we?
