Oculus SDK 1.3 support now in STABLE branch!
Last updated: 5th April 16

We finally got this stable and out! Look for Changeset #30853 or above in the top-right corner of the game in our Steam Beta experimental version. We've been working on improving the VR experience.

Instructions on how to switch from regular Subnautica to the experimental version: http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Experimental_Mode

User guide for working with Oculus Home in 1.3: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=356516956

Changes:

*Main Menu now a full 3D rendering in 2D and VR.
*Loading Saved Games now works in VR from Main Menu
*Intro & cinematics are currently disabled
*Improved performance (Oculus Min-Spec of i5 and 970 should hit around 75fps or more on Minimal settings)
*Oculus 1.3 SDK intergrated
*Controller support (VR only) and re-binding support enabled
*All options now available in-game

Reminder: you'll need at least Oculus Runtime 1.3 installed.

IMPORTANT INFO:

F2 is VR Headset Camera Tracking Reset.

Known Issues:

* You will need to enable 'External Sources' inside Oculus Home's Settings menu.
*We know the head position is off in some cases. We'll fix this when we can - for now, move back in space & use the F2 to reset it correctly in-game.

Let us know how Subnautica works in VR! :D Thanks all.

Tried it out and got this. Along with a framerate issues when looking around

that was my own fault. I forgot to set up the positioning and such in the runtime. Works better now it seems

posted.... A LOT of ingame feedback. Started them all with (OR) hopefully, I would actually get answers to these feedback as I love to help for VR. Been testing VR for a major game that is in development ( EVE Valkyrie ) and been using the oculus rift in Elite dangerous ( never played the game without OR ) so I could say I do have experience in VR playtesting ^.^ and giving suggestion to make the VR experience better :D

YAY! thanks a lot for that! I can get my Subnautica fix again :D

EDIT:
First off, the new water surface is *breathtaking* in VR.
Bugs found so far:
* Parts of the Aurora are invisible
* the cursor has the wrong aspect ratio (guessing it is to the 1080x1920 ratio, then scales down to 1080x960)

Thanks to you I noticed a problem with the actual oculus rift with Subnautica.

The native Resolution of the Oculus rift is 960x1080, and not 1080x960.

And in game if you select 1920x1080 ( the 1080p resolution ) its stretched horizonetally and the image is extremely close to your face, as the select resolution is exceeding the resolution of the game right now.

Sorry if I'm wording myself badly, I'm scratching my head hard >_>

So I tried to put the game resolution at the onyl resolution that has 1080 on the first number and it is 1080x948 and now the image is better proportionned for the OR and a better feel of depth.

But it really should have been the other way around 960x1080, not 1080x960

Hi.When we want to play on NO VR mode we must choose Opt out of all beta programs at beta options or it doesn't matters?
Si to play on Stable Mode is very differente on eperimental model without oculus?
Is for not have to change and install and delete files when e pass for one to another mode.

Frame rate is below 50 even on lowest setting unfortunately.
rada660 8 Jan, 2016 @ 3:32pm
thats an issue with the current SDK I think. least I know thats teh case for Elite dangerous. I got force my main screen to be at least 75hz so my oculus get the right refresh rate within the game >_>

Hi Guys...
Fantastic work bringing this back.. I have been waiting for this since I updated to Win10.. :)
First Impressions:
Aspect Ratio:
It seems like the aspect ratio on the 2D menues (Cursor, tablet etc) are a bit off...

Performance:
In the old SDK builds I was able to run this pretty smoothly on recommended settings...
That is not the case anymore..
Even in the shallows I am seeing pretty massive framedrop on the lowest graphic settings..
I have even upgraded my CPU since last played (I7-6700K) and are running on a OC GTX970

Maybe it would help to disable the mirroring and only send the image to the rift? :)

Anyway.. I am REALLY looking forward to playing this again - as this was by far my favourite Rift Experience...

So please fix load and save.. :)

Thank you guys for a great game and keep up the hard work! I am sure that you will be revarded for being ready with an amazing game for the first wave of VR!

When looking down I can see through my own body. I am playing at 1920x1080p with the latest 0.8 SDK, have tried a couple other resolutions but with the same issue. Other than that everything works well.
Vicman 10 Jan, 2016 @ 9:14am
Recenter the oculus but is a lower issue. Can't expect something different for DK2.I think this observation is useless.

Its unplayable, constant clipping through the neck and chest of the body takes up most of the lower screen. Recentering doesn't fix it.
