Ocean + background water disappeared
EDIT: Fix in post below, keeping this post in case it helps anyone else.

I was on the Aurora (location is not relevant actually, later happened at my base), and when I ran outside again, the ocean surface wasn't there, and the blueish "background" water is also gone. All the ocean floor+debris+plants+fish are all still there. I thought it was a visual bug at first, so I saved my game and restared it. But it kept showing up, only on this save though. If I make a new save all is fine. Google did not show anything relevant, but I'm not sure what to call it other than "ocean disappearing".

I have 2 screenshots of this, first is taken underwater, where the distant water is black instead of blue.

Second is almost the same position but now above the water surface.

Can be fixed by solution in post below.

Well, nvm. Turns out you can use the F3 menu to make them re-appear by unchecking both "water volume" and "water surface". Not sure if there are any hotkeys I could have pressed, or if they somehow bugged, but either way, water is back now.

Glad it could be of some use. Merry Xmas. :)

PS: for anyone else trying this: first hit "tab" so you get your cursor, then F3 for the menu. Close by hitting F3 again. If it appears like you can't click the options, restart the game (sometimes happens when alt/tabbing, they might become untargettable). Finally. I personally had to do this (making water appear) again at a later session. So there certainly is some bug at work there in the background. That being said, it *is* a beta. =)

run up to high places and jump until you die. after the game re-starts, the issue will be gone

I had a similar issue and the F3 option did nothing but put water lighting back on and did nothing for the fact I couldn't swim anymore. Dying fixed it completely though.
