Suggested Age Group?
One of my nephews' birthday is coming up soon, in May, and I think this would be a great game for him. I think he already plays too many first-shooters so figured this may be a change of pace. Is there a suggested age for the game?

It kind of reminds me of Minecraft underwater; nothing is overly complex at the moment. Chances are though if he can figure his way around CoD or BF4 then he can do this. It's a lot slower paced though; some people play one type of game and never deviate, so depending on his own likes and dislikes he may not find it enjoyable.

I would not see why anyone could play of ever age.

If your nephew can play FPS games and keep track of his ammunition and health, then he can probably play Subnautica and keep track of his oxygen. :)

While I don't think an age rage has been decided yet, personally, I would say ages 12+ with the younger crowd having a parent play through it with them their first few times.

Mostly because we do have some scary monsters in it :)

This game is good for all ages. Subnautica is a fantastic game to get their imaginations working overtime...

Think of it as taking your children to Disney everytime they play the game.

Anyone with a good handle on keyboard usage and PC gaming can play the game.

I let my 12 year old play this and he has firm grasp on how to do stuff. He plays a lot of Minecraft. This was pretty simple in comparison to what you can pull off using redstone and other materials.

In terms of content I'd give it a PG. The only violence is when you cut a fish with a knife and there is a little bit of blood.

This game will be great for your nephew, its slow paced but fun. And its not overly violent like most AAA games of today. And since its Early Access it will be a lower price than if it were full release, so there is no harm in trying the game out.

This game would be great for him, its non violent, and the exploration aspect is incredable, and its barely Alpha, can only imagine what Beta, let alone a complete game will be. Having played MANY shooters myself, this is a nice change. If your feeling generous, I would get him Subnautica and Kerbal Space program.

I was thinking this or KSP because he does program small robots and loved Legos when he was younger - so he does love to build. But KSP can be a problem if you have a hard time piloting.

Reaper Leviathan even freaked me out as soon as i spawned it (i'm not a man who gets freaked out by something on screen but that thing did.)

12 years old will get trauma for rest of his life if you add more of those monsters.

So, definately age 22+!

na, kidding :D

If you can only get one, get KSP. I love love love subnautica but it is still so early access and KSP is basically a complete game now. Plus the educational aspect. And Subnautica still has stability issues and crashes frequently, which could be even more frustrating to a kid than piloting learning curve.

I agree, it's a great game for all ages. There isn't anything here that would make me think it would be unsuitable for the younger folks.

I think this is probably a pg
