Reminder never to listen to Resetera

For those who don't know, Resetera are a bunch of neo-puritan, """social justice""" bullies, who were formerly part of NeoGAF (the forum that was home to 2 pedophile moderators and an admin who abused women) before they made their own safe-space on the internet.

Like NeoGAF before it, they have been hounding development teams since their inception, digging up whatever dirt they can to get developers fired from their jobs, due to having the "wrong opinions". They don't argue opinion or nuance - you're either with them or against them. It's a cult, basically.

They're a loud minority and don't represent most gamers. Subnautica is a wonderful game (I play it via Family Sharing with a close friend) and my advice to the devs is to IGNORE them. They're all bark and no bite. The game is the top-seller on Steam and doesn't need the support of mentally ill social rejects to make it a success - it already is. Keep doing what you're doing and gamers will continue to support you <3

Ignore them? But they're the largest game-dev and game-journalist community?

LOL, they're nowhere near the largest and hardly any game devs post there. Reddit and 4chins absolutely dwarf them in sheer traffic + users. Same with GameFAQS and the Steam forums, most likely.

After NeoGAF exploded with the pedo + #metoo drama, devs and journalists distanced themselves from it. As Resetera is basically NeoGAF 2.0 (with most of the same trash members) then I can't see them returning any time soon, either (and in the case of games journalists, good riddance, as they only use sites like that to steal news to fund their crappy clickbait articles anyway)

I don't care if you control a woman, personally. What I do care about is idiots trying to get devs fired for expressing their opinion. Harassment and censorship doesn't fix issues, it just makes people double-down on their views and ultimately divides people further.

Ok, I am done with this ♥♥♥♥. I just want to say none of the perpetually offended were remotely interested in buying the game. If they have an idea for a story with a female lead, fine. But doing a female only dlc just to make a point shows me how these guys don`t seem to care about the game they made, and care more about using that to preach to the masses. First the dumb we don`t want guns in the game, now this.

Alright then? Seems dumb but if they want to play politics it's their choice instead of adding to the game.

Character can't be seen properly through normal means any way so it's kind of moot for them to make a point about it.

If they made the character a female I would have been happy, they made it a man so why can't other people be equally as happy as I would be had it been the other way. This is how true equality works, not something engineerd.

Besides, what genders are all the fish in the games sea? Let's get true equality for all.

All the industry people got chased out of their poisonous little "community" years ago, and what remains is a bunch of sour grape jerks who've never made a positive contribution to anything in their entire lives. All they do is sit around trying to destroy other peoples' creative works with snark and moral condemnation. The only power they have is the attention you give them, so don't.

Except the "people with quite different opinions" are terrified of sharing their true thoughts, as they'll inevitably get banned for wrong think. Just take a look at the main thread and the front page is a graveyard of red ban notices. If you dare to say anything even slightly to the right of the most insane far-left marxist politics, you'll be banned. No question. No appeals. No dissent.

I will buy the expansion but I understand you completely. How is it even the equality that such groups are striving to achieve themselves, when we will now have females but not males? That strikes me as being feminism, not equality.

All that does is throw away one gender imbalance for another and nobody gets any where. The game will have the exact same “issue” that it does now. Working on the game and fixing bugs like clipping terrain would be a much more fruitful use of time.

Oh don't worry, mods are hard at work limiting the number of opinions with the ban hammer, they'll fix that issue in no time. And no, it's not a very large group unless we're measuring egos.
