Warpers: Frightening or Frustrating?
Do Warpers frighten you, or do they just irritate you? Were you once afraid of them? I'll toss in my two cents.

Warpers gave me a scare the first few times I bumped into them, but now, they just really anger me. I'll be building my base, and the next thing I know, my attention is diverted because some Warper has decided my base is the best place for it to hang out. Other times, when I'm in the Lava Zone, I'll be walking along in my P.R.A.W.N. Suit having a dandy ol' time when they teleport me, sometimes straight to my death by lava. And then, they'll repeatedly teleport me around like a high tech version of volleyball- and I'm the ball. They've long since stopped being scary to me, now I just get angry whenever I see them.

Is there a better way they could be implemented? I don't know. Maybe if there was a way to drive them off or deter them, it would be better. Perhaps there could be an upgrade to the P.R.A.W.N. Suit that would make it immune to Warper teleports.

Are there any ways to deter them at the moment? The only thing I've been able to do so far is to latch onto them with the grapple arm on the P.R.A.W.N. and then try and drill them. It sends them away from me, but only for 30 seconds at the most.

Warpers freaked me out at first, when I first saw them in the Grand Reef a long time ago. But now, as you say, they're just pissoff annoying.

I just stasis them then slash them a few times.

I despise Warpers more than anything else in this game, because they're just there to waste my time.

The worst thing about Warpers is that they aren't actually dangerous, just frustrating. Porting you out of your vehicle, or wherever.

The worst experience I ever had with a Warper was one humping the large eastern wreck in the Grand Reef. It was so close that it kept teleporting me out of the wreck over and over again, even though it couldn't see me. Apparently their super powers include not requiring line of sight.

So the sequence was:
1. Wait for Warper to go away.
2. Go inside wreck, explore.
3. Warper returns, instantly ports me out.
4. Drive it off so it teleports away.
5. Go back in wreck.
6. Warper returns, ports me out again.
Repeat over and over and over and over and over again.

Infuriating.

Good god in heaven, what a nightmare. I've had these hair ripping moments as well, as described in my original post. Today, I had the frustrating experience of trying to grapple my way out of a large hole in the Lava Zone, and because there's not a lot of quick movement, I kept getting teleported out and my P.R.A.W.N. would lose all progress and either sink right back down to the lava floor, or into the lava itself.

Indeed. It seems like the only time a Warper can actually kill you is in the lava zones where it teleports you out of your prawn and it falls into the lava to be destroyed.

Which just seems like a cruel joke on the part of the developers.

they should require line of sight since the orb they fire is the thing that teleports you. and they can be quite dangerous because if you don't immediately move after a warp they will melee you for a decent chunk of your health.

sometimes they're annoying but most of the time i've just learned how to get around them and avoid the situations of losing my prawn if i do get hit by a warp ball

I just don't do anything to antagonize them until I've cleared all the wrecks, now.

Don't repair the communications console.
Don't go to precursor bases.
Don't scan yourself.
Don't go to the Aurora.

And they won't bother you. Go around to all the wrecks, do your resource gathering, then do the things that upset them. Much more leisurely playthrough.

The first time I saw a Warper I was convinced that they were the Aliens and they were spying on me. So they didn't freak me out. They have also never attacked me. My base is on the edge of the Mushroom Forest and Blood Kelp Forest biomes. The Bonesharks stay pretty much in the center of the Mushroom Forest biome, so they are no a problem. Warpers pop in and pop out all the time, but they have never attacked me or my base. Which is why I thought they were Alien spies gathering intelligence. The only critter that has attacked me near my base are the Crabsquids.

if so, Holy @#$@ there bad ass, freaked me out the first few times i ran into them.
Took me a while to figure out just what the heck was going on.

Kite 'em just like the rest. Only thing I really can't kite are Ampeels, since they're fast when they're on the attack. Ultra Glide Fins + Seaglide works, though, I think. (Getting them to even be aggressive takes you getting very close, anyway) Other than those and maybe the leviathans, it works just fine. It's kind of a cheap way out of all dangers and really devalues any defensive items, but hey, if it works, why not? ;-)

Warpers and those Lava Larva are super annoying. I got so fed up one time I went on a ramming rampage to discover you can't kill Warpers.

Nope, they can't warp you out. It's one of the main reasons the Cyclops is my main mode of transportation now. It also does a nice job of ramming them and temporarily driving them away.
