I just stasis them then slash them a few times.
The worst thing about Warpers is that they aren't actually dangerous, just frustrating. Porting you out of your vehicle, or wherever.
The worst experience I ever had with a Warper was one humping the large eastern wreck in the Grand Reef. It was so close that it kept teleporting me out of the wreck over and over again, even though it couldn't see me. Apparently their super powers include not requiring line of sight.
So the sequence was:
1. Wait for Warper to go away.
2. Go inside wreck, explore.
3. Warper returns, instantly ports me out.
4. Drive it off so it teleports away.
5. Go back in wreck.
6. Warper returns, ports me out again.
Repeat over and over and over and over and over again.
Infuriating.
Good god in heaven, what a nightmare. I've had these hair ripping moments as well, as described in my original post. Today, I had the frustrating experience of trying to grapple my way out of a large hole in the Lava Zone, and because there's not a lot of quick movement, I kept getting teleported out and my P.R.A.W.N. would lose all progress and either sink right back down to the lava floor, or into the lava itself.
Which just seems like a cruel joke on the part of the developers.
sometimes they're annoying but most of the time i've just learned how to get around them and avoid the situations of losing my prawn if i do get hit by a warp ball
Don't repair the communications console.
Don't go to precursor bases.
Don't scan yourself.
Don't go to the Aurora.
And they won't bother you. Go around to all the wrecks, do your resource gathering, then do the things that upset them. Much more leisurely playthrough.

if so, Holy @#$@ there bad ass, freaked me out the first few times i ran into them.
Took me a while to figure out just what the heck was going on.
Yep.
Nope, they can't warp you out. It's one of the main reasons the Cyclops is my main mode of transportation now. It also does a nice job of ramming them and temporarily driving them away.
