A GUIDE TO SUBNAUTICA'S LEVIATHANS
We all hate leviathans. Sure they look cool, but there not very friendly. They all seem to gaurd something. The sea dragon for example gaurds the prison. The reaper guards the aurora and the ghost guards the void

Reaper leviathans.

they are located in the dunes, and near the aurora. I believe they gaurd the aurora. It uses echo location, and can snatch a seamoth or prawn. Be cautious that the reaper is echo locative. If you can hear it, be silent and it won't find you.

Ghost leviathan.

they are located in the grand reef, lost river, and the void. The ones in the lost river are the smallest, the ones in the grand reef is medium, and the ones in the void are huge. They cannot grab the seamoth or prawn, but really packs some damage.

Sea dragon leviathan.

he is located in the inactive lava zone, and can grab a prawn and seamoth and breath fire. Its bigger than a reefback, and has a bug where he slaps you. I'm not joking. He has a vital weakness, the statis rifle. Because if he guards the prison then you can freeze him, get in, get out, freeze him again, and go back home.

sea emperor leviathan.
Hey man, MAJOR spoilers ahead. She can communicate to you with mental conections, and her baby's enzyme can cure the carar. Shes the biggest in the game, and theres only one in the entire subnautica map.

Conclusion
hope this was helpful, it took me 30 minutes to write this, please like and respond!!!!

There are a total of 6 Reaper leviathans in the dunes, 8 all around the aurora, and another 8 in the mountians. Reaper leviathans are very noisy and can be heard some distance away. Take care when traveling to these biomes, espically around the aurora and the mountains ( dont think for a second that being on the surface will keep you safe, it wont!).

The ghost leviathans are a mixed bag. On one hand there are far far fewer of them than the reapers, and in my expeirience at least they seem to be a little bit less agressive. On the other hand, they are a lot less noisy than the other leviathans and can sneak up on you easily if you arent careful,

Sea dragons are the leviathans you have to worry about. They are very noisy and can be heard a good distance away and there are only 3 of them ( 2 in the inactive lava zone and 1 in the active lava zone), however, they have large pathing areas, and are capable of damage that is unrivaled by any other creature in the game. Their attacks do substantial damage to your submersables so be VERY cautious when going to these zones.

Don't forget the other 2 Leviathan Class Organisms: Sea Treader and Reefback.
How should we approach these?

I know I've been attacked by a Sea Treader at least once. It rised his front leg, said "moooo" and instead of putting it back down, it hit me. I was totally unprepared for that.
Should hide the text on the Emperor

one leviathan is missing Bro ;) :lifepod:
Just a couple of recommended revisions based on in-game behavior:

+ Reapers utilizing echolocation to find you is purely flavor text for the scan data. It has an aggro range like anything else and will attack you based on sight. Attraction to noise is only applicable if you're piloting the Cyclops since it utilizes different aggro mechanics. Also, they're attracted to light.

+ Ghosts live in the Dead Zone, Lost River, Grand Reef, and the Northern Blood Kelp Zone due west of the mountain island.

+ In practice, Sea Dragons are actually less threatening than Reapers are due to their aggro range being the same but the Sea Dragon is a lot less inclined to keep up a chase if you escape. I've had Reapers chase me across the map before, even in 1.0. Sea Dragons and Ghosts are nowhere near as aggressive and persistent. The only advantage the Sea Dragon has over the others is easily-dodged projectiles.

The problem with the Sea Dragons is that they patrol right next to critical objectives (the Lava Castle and the Containment Facility).

No Reapers are anywhere near anything important; they all spawn out of the way.

Well, I mean, except for the Aurora... And if you're not entirely sure of where you're going, you can run into one of the mountains ones when heading out to the Sunbeam island.
Tewa 27. Jan. 2018 um 13:33
The path into the Aurora has no reapers near it. The one patroling by the engines and the one to the northeast of the entrance are both easily avoided.

Sure, you can run into anything if you stumble across it, though. Including heading out into the Void.
not to ruin it, but these guys really are not all that agressive, and usually, strafing in any sort of manner, will do it, infact i scanned the ghost leviathon in the lost river, just by strafing right, he would charge, attack, miss, can id keep circling and scanning, just dont make yourself a easy target, be affraid, but seriously, they arnt that bad, after awhile you get use to em and just swim around near em, and i have yet to create a stasis rifle or pulse cannon

A bit sadly, for me it's pretty much like this:

Reaper Leviathan: avoid.

Ghost Leviathan: Ignore.

Sea Dragon Leviathan: Ignore.

Ghost does just chip damage on your vehicles, even on the player itself, and the Sea Dragon is way too passive imo. Only the Reaper seems to be a decent threat to me.
AquaX 27. Jan. 2018 um 13:53
Ghost Levi is the lowest tier in terms of danger since the only way it can hurt is the mouth. As long as you strafe, you should dodge it. The 1s in the void are the largest and can come at you 3 at a time.

The reapers are fine since they are just made to scare you. You need to strafe further away than compared to ghost since their mouth claws can grab you from a distance.

For the seadragon, run as fast as you can. Use the slingshot maneuver on the prawn to gain speed to be slightly ahead of the dragon.

reefbacks, sea treaders, etc are not leviathans. Leviathans need to be agressive. Just because they're big, doesn't mean they're a leviathan.
