Okay, I'm trying this in Beta Branch. However, it happens in beta or standard installations. I've tried... Pretty much everything. At least previously. In another game. It gave me this exact same issue. I mean the exact same issue. So, rather than re-post everything I did or tried with it I'll post a link to my forum posting of my issue there so you can also read what their devs replied with.

The game was Unclaimed World. It now works for me so maybe you can write them to find out, or even get a hint, as to what is happening.

Hmm, very interesting... Someone else mentioned having a similar problem, and like what happened to you in that thread, his version mysteriously started working after awhile. The only thing I could suggest is deleting the game and re-downloading it. You may need to restart your computer as well. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll see if there is anything else I can figure out.

I deleted and reinstalled. Then when that didn't work I deleted again, then used ccleaner to clean up my registry in case something was getting left. Then reinstalled. None of it worked.

Does Unclaimed World still work for you?

Yes it does

Ok, very interesting. I'll see if I can get in contact with the devs of Unclaimed World and see if they can remember anything they did specifically to fix the issue as you suggested. Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you send me your crash log (if there even is one) from my documents/my games/signs of life/logs? It should be called Main.log if its in there, and if you could send it to playsignsoflife@gmail.com I would appreciate it.

Okay log sent. But it didn't appear to have antything recent in it. Thank you very much for trying to resolve this.

Ok thanks. I've got a couple other questions that may help me narrow down the issue.
A) Do you use any anti-virus programs or firewalls?
B) Can you launch windows media player and use it to play media such as music?

1) I use avast antivirus and zonealarm firewall.
2) Yes, though I prefer to use VLC media player.

Could you try temporarily disabling your antivirus and firewall or adding signs of life to the whitelist? I once had avast prevent me from running the game, so I wonder if it might be somehow related.

Thank you. It appears it may indeed be Avast. I found it was happening on another game, Planet Centauri. So I tried disabling avast's shields and once I did both 'Signs of Life' and 'Planet Centauri' worked without a problem. I've posted over at the avast forums about the problem so hopefully it'll get resolved. Might help if you, as a developer, posted over there as well. But you dont need to. I'm registered as truthowl there too in case you want to read my post.
