Invitations to the Crimson Court Plot Quests (Baron, Viscount, and Countess)
Many have been asking about how Invitations work, so here is a summary:

The "Burn the Hives" Courtyard quest will pop at week 3. You can do this at your leisure.

After that quest, the first "infestation" of the Estate will begin. Courtyard pests will begin to slowly appear in other regions. When the infestation level reaches HIGH (around week 8-10), you will start to encounter monster groups that include the "Gatekeeper". The Gatekeeper, if killed before he can escape, will drop an Invitation.

Each invitation allows one entry into the Courtyard boss quest. Unlike other quests, you may take as many attempts to finish the Courtyard boss quests as you like, and your progress is saved. (The dungeons are Epic length!)

After the boss is vanquished, the infestation level will be reset for a time before starting to climb again, setting up for the next special quest.

We hope this clears up some of the confusion!

P.S. In today's hotfix (June 21) we sped up the infestations some (especially the first one) and also increased appearance rates of the Gatekeeper. This should get you to the Baron quest faster!

P.P.S: For those of you continuing existing campaigns, the week schedule will begin when you enable the DLC.

Thank you for clarifying this. Any word whether you'll do something about Blueprints for those playing a campaign with all the bosses already defeated?

Yes! We've added Blups to the Statue, and are working on a solution to help check players saves and give them Blups accordingly.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this? Do you mean if you bug out of the quest and take it again you get to start on the tile you bugged out from? This isn't exactly clear language, though I haven't gotten to the Barron yet because I honestly haven't wanted to play and lack of invite drops, so maybe it'd be clearer if I could play the content, but is there any way to clarify this?

Hopefully this helps invitations show up a lot more often, because it's kind of crazy to put out a DLC built around new content I haven't even been able to see for the first 3 days.

The infestation/invitation system is still a really bad idea. But hopefully at least this works through it faster.

Infestation is only bad because the Curse is still pretty terrible a thing to have.

Well, no it's because when I bought a DLC for new content I expected to actually be able to access it.

Also, having a giant laugh in my new game that it rolled me needing 80 busts for the blood producing building when in the last one it was 40 portraits, so I was saving the wrong heirloom. Oh come on man. Do some math. The new building costs are straight up nuts.

New buildings are special, so most prices are reasonable.
You can farm those deeds/portraits/whatever else needed, if you wish.
What happen when you finish all of the courts boss. The infestation stops? or they come back?

When you say "slowly" just how slowly do you mean?

I'm playing on a post-game save (beat all Darkest Dungeons) to get to new content quicker. I have new batches of lower level characters to access the Courtyard.

I got the "Infestation" event but after 7 weeks going by I haven't seen a single Crimson Court enemy. Most of the runs were level 5. Which raises two questions:
  1. Will the enemies (including Gatekeeper) only show up on quests that are level 3 or lowert?
  2. Does time in the Infestation event keep ticking when I'm playing higher level dungeons?

Trying to figure out if this is a bug or if it's supposed to take this long.

To the Devs:
I enjoy the DLC but a couple of the mechanics are suspect at best.
1) Invitations - it's debateable if having them be random drops is good or bad, the argument can be made either way - but the fact that you can argue that for those who have a string of not finding the NPC who drops it can be fairly frustrating is a bad thing in a game when it comes to gatekeeping mechanics I think.
2) Infestation - also debateable that resetting to zero and how slowly (and ambiguously) it climbs is also overly subtle that its frustrating to have to just run dungeons for the sole reason of waiting for it to climb
3) The clear design of the DLC to be played in conjunction with a new game vs a game in progress (or finished). I wanted to play from the point at which I completed the original game - and the mechanics as designed, make it really painful (see above) as running dungeons repeatedly, for no other reason than to 'move the clock along' is clearly a design feature not intended because the DLC is really for new games.
Perhaps it can be reviewed to try to address these 3 points in some creative way?
I'm still enjoying the DLC, but unless I start a new game (and redo content I already did) - or redo dungeons I already did (just to move the clock) - i seemingly have to slog though much already seen repetition in order to see all the DLC (eg Crimson Court) missions/bosses - which seems a bit tedious.

I can really feel the new infestation rate, feels pretty good.

One question, is it possible for the third week event to be overwritten by a quest reward event when the DLC is added to a pre-existing file? I have been trying to play through the DLC in a NG+ and have collected all of the related trinkets (Rats, Mantra, etc.) over a dozen or so weeks, but the Courtyard remains closed.

I took the invitation from the gatekeeper for the baron quest: the achievement was bugged and it didn't unlock. A fix removed the bug, but now, taking the invitation for viscount and countess, the achievement always doesn't unlock. What do I have to do RH? Do I have to begin again the game?

I team wiped against the Countess, but now I can no longer enter because it says I require an invitation. plz help
