Bannerlord incorperating multiplayer campaign, co-op/pvp
Me and a few friends have been talking about bannerlord and the idea came up for multiplayer campaign. We all love mount and blade warband and the idea of bannerlord, even with its bugs, is still fun to us, but we have it as a low priority game right now because it has very little value in the multiplayer field, the pvp seems to heavily rely on a big player base just as warband did, and that can get old when you just want to go against a friend army to army, or coop a seige to take a castle, or even build a kingdom together, or sepperate, and see where that goes.

It was just a passing idea, and seeing that there was no coop campaign was a dissapointment, and again made it more of a passtime game when you cant hop on with a few pals. But it'd have tons more replay vaue (saying alot cuz it already does) if it had a campainnwhere you could play with or against friends on.

Anyone want to agree or disagree then all i ask is you be respectful about it, again this was just a passing thoughtmy friends and i had whike talking about mount and blade 2: bannerlord and i wanted to toss it out there for the devs and community.

Maybe in M&B 3 they can add it.

Yeah maybe, but frankly most of us won't be alive in 2148 when that game comes out.

People post about this every single day. I want it too.

I would love for this to happen, but there are apparently some issues with implementing that, like when players enter scenes, such as battles or villages that pauses the entire campaign map. So, if there were two separate parties controlled by players, everytime one would need to change a scene the entire game would need to be paused.

Some have suggested by fixing this by forcing the players into one party where one would be in control of the movement and such. Perhaps in a battle they could force the other players on the map to join in as one of the NPCs with the player who initiated the battle.

Those are some ideas that I have heard. There is actually a lot of discussion on this and I would encourage a google search to get deeper in the waters.

God bless you

I say get rid of the pause mechanic they could do what Conqueror's Blade does and have the world constantly moving even if you go into a town. I like the idea of co-op but not if it forces you to be in the same party. Keep it how it is now so that each player could join the others army and leave when they wanted to.

Use the search function and type in coop. There will be hundreds of threads. This request is almost as old as the M&B series itself.

TW know that and evaluated the implementation of coop in Bannerlord. There is code related to coop in the game files. But they found that they couldn't do coop with multiple player controlled parties without changing too many core concepts. Single party coop would have been possible, but they didn't find it fun enough to implement as an official game mode.

That's why there is no official coop mode in Bannerlord and why there never will be. The best hope of all coop enthusiasts are modders in Bannerlord. There is good reason to hope that they will at least manage to create a single party coop mod.

''never will be'' since you can tell the future Heron whats the winning lotto number? :steamhappy: People like you are why we can't have nice things in the world. :steamfacepalm: If this "request" is so old people want it and Bannerlord would be a great starting point to implement it.

Hell I'd even pay for it if it was a DLC later on.

I think you could get pretty good traction with a coop mod that makes the host's game a normal coop campaign, which friends can connect to and observe, but in battles, they take control of the host's companions, and in tournaments, his teammates.

Of course this isn't the dream of both parties on the same party map where they can battle together or separately, join on another's armies, and so forth, but it'd still be fun.

Man, I just explained in detail WHY I'm pretty sure that it never will be implemented into Bannerlord. I backed it up with what I know on the subject after following this game since 2012. Of course you never know for sure but I'd be extremely surprised if TW gave coop another try.

Of course a lot of people want it. Of course it would be great if TW implemented it. But TW apparently can't. They tried and failed. That's all I'm saying here. Most people don't know that they tried.

Coop is still in the air still unless they forgot to update the FAQ.

"Will there be co-op?
We haven’t made any final decisions on co-op at this moment in time. We will make an announcement on this as soon as we have more information to provide."

IF we get coop its probably going to be in the far off future though.

Sure but not at the expense of the singleplayer sandbox which still take their top priority for a long time until release.

After that who knows what will be possible.

RPS: A cooperative campaign is a holy grail for a lot of Mount & Blade fans. Is it a possibility?

Yavuz: It’s very difficult to do, not just because of the technical difficulty, but also to make things practically playable when we have two people doing wildly different things in real-time. One player might be trying to have a very exciting battle that is the climax of a very important experience, and one player just beforehand decides to go to town and look at the marketplace. These people have to be in the same gameworld and it’s very difficult to make sure that they’re both enjoying themselves and all having a great campaign experience simultaneously. It’s almost impossible without cutting down on what the game offers.

There may be another way to manage all of those things, by limiting the co-op to one kind of campaign. Let people play together as a party and have them always be together. That might be possible and that may be the the only kind of co-op that we can deliver. It’s something we’re experimenting with and that we have worked on. We’ll only officially announce something if we can make it 100% efficient and fun to play though.

yeah its quite a common idea actually. Ive seen the co-op campaign pop up hundreds of times so far and ill voice my opinion on it. At a very general point of view, it would be really fun but at a gameplay point it seems like it would be quite difficult to implement.

the hard points imo is the map pausing and also instances of things such as towns and what the other player(s) would have to do if one person took a walk through a town. I could see if it was similar to total wars co-op campaigns where in battles, one person controls and the others watch unless the controlling player maybe gives some of his units up to the other plays to command themselves. Or possibly giving the other player the option of controlling the ai army. The pausing could be rectified by disabling that and having the map in 1x speed at all times.

However, all that being said, co op in mount and blade imo is just not something that is really possible without heavy modifications to the game and as of right now, the single player is just of more importance. There are just too many instance based scenarios in the game for the co-op to be functional and more importantly, enjoyable.
