Game won't start
It gets to the initial loading screen but never actually finishes loading. It'll get to an inordinate percentage, stops, goes to a largely black screen with the game cursor (which is moveable). I say largely black screen because it looks like there is a small amount of what looks to be garbled text in the lower left corner and some in the center of the screen. My laptop is dated but exceeds requirements.

Same here. I've read that it might have to do with having a low res monitor. I'm hoping there is a way around this issue as I'd really like to play the game.

What Resolution are you both using? If you are on Windows you can try going to *User*/t-engine/4.0/settings/resolution.cfg and editing the content to something like
window.size = '800x600 Windowed'
Maybe it helps.

I'm using a 1280x1024 res. I tried the windowed thing and had the same issue. Hmm.

I tried to edit the files, but none of those files exsist in my 'settings' folder.
