Progress/Save Deleted

Checked for update, saw that ep 3&4 are still locked. Restarted steam to force update. Went back in.
Suddenly, it's like i've never played the game. No extras, no stats, episode 2 locked.
Nothing apart from achievements and time played to show I ever touched the game. Very disheartening.
Is there a fix? Or do I just need to suck it up and replay from the beginning?

I also downloaded the episode 3 & 4 update and my save file seems to be either gone or reset. I do not have stats in game, and trying to start the game puts me at the beginning of Episode 1.

I already played through the first two episodes twice...I don't feel like doing that again currently..maybe later on. I would have to know this is fixed..i dont want to play four episodes and have all my data deleted again.

I didn't back up my save data because I never had to do that before but I will be doing that going forward with this game. There is no fix it because it was overwritten. I just don't want it to happen again.

Same problem here. I actually tested saving the profile/scene once and got back to episode 1.

I found a solution.

Log into the game, start it, a new game starts, exit the game, then log back in. When you start, an option to change save slots will appear in the top left corner. Change the slot to the old one (you can tell by the date), and everything will work.

Also (if the above doesn't help), following the advice of the GPT chat, before launching the game, I unchecked the cloud saves box in the Steam game properties. Then, launch the game, exit, re-check the cloud saves box, and then log back in.

The issue may have been that you went play to play episode 1 or 2 and exited early after you got the choices you wanted instead of letting the episode finish out.

If you don't let the game enter the 'final save state' by making it to the credits where it properly records your decisions to save them and load them into the next episode it doesn't know what to do an so locks all future episodes.

Also when it came to the unlock, I verified files to force the update. Because I'd gone into episode 2 to view the slide show again but didn't finish the episode it locked out the new content until i'd gone back in and finished the episode properly.

I accidentally restarted my whole save going back to see one scene... Any fix to this ??

It's so frustatrating.
Now I'm stuck back with no progress. I just wanted to fix an old chapter from Episode 2. Not delete my whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ progress for Episode 3 and 4.

Okay okay I know this is going to sound crazy but literally just click on one of the other episodes and just click “play” even if it is greyed out… it lets you start even if you haven’t saved the previous choices. Only issue might be skill points… 🤔

You can:
-open game (you can only play from the very start here) and maybe start first episode;
-close game;
-open game again. Episode list will be available.
-change save slot to the one, with progress.
It's kinda frustrating, but save isn't deleted or erased. So, I guess, it's fine.

This quite literally saved me from spending another 5-6 hours on the game. The second step with re-checking the cloud saves worked on the first try

Could it be that you accidentally switched to another save slot?
