Mac OS X hickups and pitfalls
Just wanted to publish my finding on King's Bounty - Legends on Mac OS X. I have a MacBook
Pro Retina so the following may only apply to this device.

  • It only runs with the discrete graphics card. If the integrated graphics card is selected, the game crashes to desktop. (The problem description contains something about "
    InterOpManager::InterOpManager::getOptimalResolution(int&, int&)
    " in this case.) To force OS X to use the discrete graphics card, use the tool gfxCardStatus[gfx.io].
  • When the game starts, it just places its icon in the dock. You need to click this icon to actually switch to the game.
  • If you just started the game, chose "New Game" and selected "Warrior" then all characters in the game won't be displayed correctly when you play the game in a non-english language (like German in my case) - see this screenshot[imgur.com]. This only happens for the "Warrior" class. If you want to create a warrior, first create a new game with some other class. Then return to the main menu and create a warrior. Characters should now display correctly.
  • Unfortunately, King's Bounty doesn't work correctly with Retina display resolutions. Any resolution above 1680x1050 will screw up how text is displayed (see screenshot[imgur.com]). Also, all resolutions above the mentioned one will result in the game choosing the highest resolution (2880x1800 in my case) - no matter which resolution you choose.

Just my 2 cents.
