Why UE4?
This game looks so amazing, it uses cryengine right?
So why would you change it to UE4?

Yes, we used Unreal Engine 3 for the original release of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, now we are moving to Unreal Engine 4 as a natural progression. We will be able to achieve some additional graphics effects with it (make it look even more amazing!) and we are going to implement some other improvements in the new version of the game as well, such as a better saving system. However, the most trivial reason was that Unreal Engine 3 simply does not support PlayStation 4.

Oh nice, i hope you get it going on ps4, that should get you some pocket change :)
I must say you really did a good job cause i thought it was on cryengine and UE3 usaully has a distinctive look to it that sets it apart.

I actually recognized the way it loaded lower resolution textures first then replaced them with higher resolution as they were loaded. The way it acts and looks is typical to Unreal Engine.

I don't notice texture loads on my PC, i did however on my PS3

The most trivial reason for using UE4 should be VR support ;-). Many thanks to the devs for this beautiful game (i have a look at it with vorpx but i decided to wait till the game have native VR support).
Yes, we are working with VR as well, it may take a bit more time though until we can show some tangible results.

Hopefully on the PC we can get an update to the UE4 version. It would be nice. Especially for those who have already bought it.

That's what is going to happen, The_Winkler. :) If you own a PC version of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, you will be able to get an update for the game running in Unreal Engine 4 for free.

Will this change also cure the stuttering issue?

No company producing software can ever guarantee that its product is going to work perfectly on all possible systems and configurations. We are working on many technical improvements for the UE4 version, but we obviously cannot guarantee that we are going to solve everyone's problems with the game. We are going to release a list of improvements that are going to be implemented in the new version of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter soon. Is it a satisfactory answer? :)

This is a widely known issue, not just for some configurations... You already know that though. I am just hoping you guys fix it. I bought your game and have yet to play past the bridge because I will not play a game that stutters. So far, the game has been a waste of money... I hope that changes.
