Serious Sam 4

Serious Sam 4

i hope that SS4 will bring back Serious Sam franchise's old popularity.
i hope that SS4 will bring back Serious Sam franchise's old popularity.back than the series was a classic one of the most popular games, but now only community is left, nothing else. so i hope that by the release of SS4 all the popular youtubers start playing it so the community grows larger.

i would love what opinions you guys would share to me.

I would love it if SS4 brings the franchise's popularity back, but at the same time I doubt it even will.
Unless it has a really strong multiplayer with something new that will be pretty hard. But this is why I am glad they are trying a fresh spin with more open world approach and thousands of enemies. It's defenitly got a chance to be biggest SS game since FE.

Multiplayer never maid SS famous. Stop trying making it a reality.

I am not, I am just saying that there aren't any single player FPS shooter games blowing up on Twitch/YouTube (like op asked). Best case scenario for SS4 is that it does as well as new Far Cry or Doom sales wise.

Also multiplayer was very popular in FE/SE, we had a pretty large FFA player base and a lot of people played co-op.

yes true but, Serious sam TFE/TSE wasn't really famous for it's multiplayer, it was famous for difficulty, also i created this discussion because i saw let's plays on Doom(2016), like why did they do let's plays on Doom and nbot on Serious Sam, this is why Closed Doors presentation of SS4 was a bad idea, yes the game was in it's earliest stages but c'mon the reason why Doom had let's plays is because popular youtubers have seen Doom on E3

We're well aware of the type of game we're making and we know Twitch/Youtube coverage comparable to those some other games like SCUM get is not something we can count on.

Still, we're making a game we want to make, not the one that will put us on the front page of every streaming platform. Croteam was always about that concept - making what we love.

That's the first good thing from you since the dead fish in the water that SSF turned into after few months of active development.

Fusion is still very much in active development, though.

Doesn't seem much alive to me. When was the last patch released?

Being fair here, i assume buisness wise, they had to redirect all development to ss4. Lets be honest, after seeing how dire the alpha looked, can you blame them? Again i think that all hinges on ss4. When it comes out, then we can ♥♥♥♥♥ all we like but if ss4 comes out and all that extra work has paid off, then dayum, all is good.

But hey thats ol' optimistic me against the agressively realist terepin.

What you've seen from the pre-alpha recordings that were released was actually a tech demo. Behind closed doors we showed areas we improved on from earlier games.
You'll see true Sam 4 in due time.

And to continue the Fusion discussion, of course, most of the resources nowadays go towards Sam 4, it's only logical. And I know how lack of patches might make it seem like nothing is going on with Fusion, but there is stuff going on internally.

I expected the development of SSF to slow down, but not releasing a single patch in almost 7 months is an apt description of being dead. Especially considering the amount of serious bugs it has. And I don't care what you are doing behind the curtains because I'm a player. And as one I didn't receive anything in over half of the year.

So yes. As far as I, as player, am concerned: the game is dead. It shows no signs of life. At all.

That clears things up. A tech demo is exactly what that looked like. Cant wait. I hope directx12 gets major boosts to be on par somewhat with vulkan as well, things like mfaa, backwards compat and fullscreen optimizations are all really good things for windows users.

So now I know SS4 is only a tech demo. Maybe it was like this for already a few years, but I'm not sure. I just hope to see numerous improvements by next year.
