You know they will add support. It is Croteam for crying out loud. :steammocking:

There is only a Windows icon right now, so it clearly doesn't currently support Linux and it doesn't sound like Linux is going to be supported on day one. Croteam supports Linux for other games, and has been really focused on Linux in the past, so I was shocked to find out this doesn't look like it's going to have day one Linux support. There goes my pre-order.

Any news from Croteam about when the Linux support is coming?

If they wanted Linux and Mac support on day one the game wouldn't be ready until 2021. They will add support a few months after the release. SS4 on launch won't even have deathmatch and survival gamemodes and editor on launch either. So you see that they just want to release the game already and release more stuff in free patches. They did the same with HD TFE in 2009 tbh. No editor at all, no deathmatch and no dedicated server tool for coop but after a few patches they added DM and Dedicated server tool. Editor came only with the release of HD TSE unfortunately.

SS4 won't even have more than 4-player co-op at launch or workshop. So something tells me they have no spare time right now for Linux or anything really...

This is from interview in May: "As for the native Serious Sam 4 Linux port. There won’t be one at launch. We’re currently razor-focused on Windows. And I don’t know what’s going to happen post-launch. If we do move forward with the Linux port, we’ll announce it beforehand." But the game uses Vulkan so you'll be able to play it on Linux via Proton anyway.

Do you have a source link? If so, wow, that'd be Croteam pushing Microsoft propaganda. "Just play Windows games!"

No, Linux gamers should get support for running games they pay for on the platform they play them on, just like every other gamer gets.

If that quote is real, Croteam sounds less and less like they want to support Linux gamers and progress Linux gaming and don't want our support money. So much for all the Linux development they've done.

No, Linux should get supported 2 years after Windows release.

Windows should get supported never because it spies on you and Microsoft is evil, and everyone should switch to and support Linux.

Thanks. I couldn't find a quote from Croteam specifically saying "razor-focused" as that article claimed, but it's crazy that "they don't know" about Linux support when it's something they've been delivering for the past several years in a row. I don't know if I'm supporting Croteam anymore in that case. Once they know, I will know too!
