I agree. Wow. Truck Racer looks horrible. I don't expect a lot of WRC 5 now. I know many people are disappointed in the lack of realism in the WRC games of milestone. But after looking at this I can tell: It will get a LOT worse.
I'm really enjoying WRC 4, though. WRC 4 for me is like Dirt 3 without the annoying parts and with way more rally driving. Sad to hear Milestone lost the license.
All 4 of the WRC games they've released have been buggy as hell, and rather than support the game each year they just dropped it and moved on to the next year's bug infested iteration.
After seeing the new dev's work, I can't say that I believe they look like they're in a position to move the franchise forward in a positive way.
But they're hiring, right? Maybe they'll bring some programmers and designers onboard who have a lot of experience building racing games?
Ok, edit.
I loaded up WRC2 and played for a while yesterday. In retrospect, WRC2 was headed in the right direction, and it all went downhill from there.
When did the new publisher take over? Was Milestone pushed into creating a more accessible "DiRT"-like title?
Sure, the graphics were greatly improved upon in 3 and 4, but the stages were way shorter and the physics were made less realistic. Esp in 4.
So, maybe Milestone didn't "lose" the license, as much as they got fed up with a publisher pushing them to rush out game after game and losing sight of their original vision?
