You know it's a poor port when...
The exit/quit button to close the game is labelled "Game Reset" under the menu "Reset or Load" with the description "Reset the game and start from the beginning"
Only half the textures and models have been given the HD treatment
V-Sync isn't even an option in-game
When the camera problems have been made worse

Feel free to add your own

Game Reset.

I have no idea why they named it that, but that's the quit to main menu option.

So your entire thread is invalid due to misinformation

Yes there is hit esc then load game, and there is a reset option which takes you to the main screen, then you hit quit

There is an exit/quit button. Click "Game Reset" and it takes you to the title screen where you can exit. It's not great, but it works like how RE4 worked on console.

Haven't noticed any camera issues myself.

Really, the only thing that really makes it a poor port for me is the performance issues.

As in reset the game to the main menu... not your file. This was probably not changed due to the tradition of the game. It has been this way for all other RE4 versions.

Never before have I seen a game use the term 'Reset your game' to mean 'Go to the main menu.'
Total Cereal Feb 28, 2014 @ 9:29pm
It was "Game Reset" in the Gamecube version. NOTHING to do with the port. Stop making up excuses to hate on the game.

Pleaes tell me another PC game that uses 'Game Reset' and/or 'Reset or Load' as an indicator of going back to the main menu? Please do... Otherwise you're just a damn troll ignoring every good point like a jackass

You probably are not familiar with the original RE4 game... the original game (Game Cube) and basically EVERY other port (Console or PC) have the same menu design: Retry/Load (where you restart checkpoints, load saves or quit the game), Controller settings and Brightness Settings... that was the way the original Resident Evil menus were designed back in the day... And I believe there was no intention to change the original UI...

honestly I don't see any need to change the original UI... there are other things that could be updated though (like ALL old textures... and not just some of them)... but overall this port is solid... Its a shame they couldn't make variable frame rate work, so that would fix basically most of the performance problems people are having...

Every game that runs at a fixed 60fps (e.g. Injustice: GAU) have problems with low end rigs and "throttling" machines (like laptops with dual GPUs), variable frame rate would fix that because when the game drop the frame rate, the engine just skip frames to keep the game speed... unfortunately some RE4 animations are frame dependant so they coudn't make the frameskip work properly... so the rig must be fast enough to render 60fps fixed or slow motion will happen... (in this case drop to 30fps fixed solves the problem)

*sighs* people just love finding things to complain about.

I've beaten RE4 at least a dozen times. It's just been nearly a decade....
I figured since you don't handle your PC like you would your Gamecube, it'd come with the common sense labels that are so commonly used it's ridiculous
