Can't get past the minecart train bit

You know the bit with the underground tunnels and you're riding 3 minecarts? At the end, after it gives the prompt to jump to safety before the carts fall into the hole, it says to hammer the X button to climb up.
I've died there 3 times now and have to repeat the entire train bit again each time! Is anyone else having trouble with this. I;ve never had a problem with this on the Gamecube, Wii and 360 versions.

Same problem, died 5 times now and I've never failed this part on GC or an emulated pc version before either.

Someone mentioned moving your mouse upwards so Leon looks up at the ledge as you mash x. Sounds familiar for some reason from the GC version. Gonna see if it works with a joystick on a 360 controller and post back here.

Tried keyboard and mouse and with a 360 controller and looking up while mashing x didn't work for either. Really frustrating.

you need to bash X realy realy fast and that's it

Yea, its definately a problem as same thing happened to me and i was smashing it pretty fast. I died about 9 times and had to repeat all those times. Before you get to that part
(bashing the x button) you will get a prompt to push another button, you have to hit them pretty quickly. Same thing when you are running from the giant statue.

Same here i've mashed the life out of the X button when you have to climb up and no matter how many times i press it Leon falls to his death

Managed to get past the minecarts by dropping my frame rate to 30. Got through the qte first try, no problem.

My framerate is already at 30 and I cannot get Leon to pull himself up, no matter how early I start mashing or if I try X or A.

The amount of health also determines how much faster you must mash, I believe. So I would recommend healing up before you get to the jump.

I've been full in the green 3 times now and no go. Also for the record, I didn't have this problem on GCN or Wii so it isn't that I just can't mash.

Are you playing on pro? Smashing sometimes can be difficult on pro.

No, it's my first run on normal. Del Lago and El Gigante have similar mash x prompts and I've done them all fine, and like I said I've passed the minecart fine as well on the old versions. I'm starting to seriously think it's something with the game not reading the correct input for this one prompt.

It's funny you mention the other prompts Temjin, thinking back I did have problems with the X & A combos as Ashley when you avoid the knights swords/axes despite being adament I was pressing them.
