chapter 4-1 issue

so theres this gate that wont open in my game. beyond it is apparently a hallway of knight statues. every walkthrough i watch shows it opened immediatley, but i have no way of opening it myself. pls help

Are you playing in easy mode? Playing in easy make that part inaccesible, as it's contains (the King's Grail) needed to unlock a door (along the Queen's) is already in place.
