If the game is crashing on start up, please read this!
If you are running into an issue where the game crashes when you start up, it can most likely be fixed with a graphics driver update. In particular, we are running into some issues with Intel graphics.

Windows Update and Steam won't necessarily point you at the latest drivers for Intel. The best way to get them is to go here[www.intel.com] and click on "Check your System for Updates". There will be a bunch of annoying permission requests, but go through all of those and then get any updates for your system that you can.

If it still doesn't work, leave a message with what video card and operating system you have, and I'll try to sort it out. If I don't respond in a timely manner, please feel free to email me at support@infinitapgames.com and I'll try to get the issue sorted out.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!

Hey, I tried as above but it seems there are no updates for my rather outdated graphics card [ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650] and I just get "We are sorry. Neverending nightmares has crashed" when I load the game. What should I do now?

I have a GeForce GTX 780 Ti and on startup I get: "the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)". All Drivers are up to date, including .NET Framework, Visual C++ and DirectX. I only got this error on the game Secret Ponchos before. Couldn't solve it then.
My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.

For the HD 3650 bug, I think I may be able to work around that. It may take a few days. Bruugar, I sent you an email, but the issue is that there is something wrong with the dlls on your system. Hopefully the steps in the email will work for you. *fingers crossed*

Hi Moose,

I created a special build that will hopefully help me get to the bottom of this. If you'd like to help, do the following:
1) I need you to right click on Neverending Nightmares in your Steam list and go to Properties.
2) Then in this window, go to Betas. Enter the following Beta access key:
NeverendingTesting
3) The code should be accepted, and it should allow you to access the beta “prerelease”.
4) Go to the drop down and select prerelease. Hit close.
5) You should be forced to download an update for the game. Once you download the update, it should say: Neverending Nightmares [prerelease]
6) Run the game.
7) It *might* not crash.
8) If it does, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverending Nightmares
9) Find the file nightmare_log.txt and copy the text here, and I'll see if it is something we can figure out.

If it does work, let me know, so I can push the fix to everyone.

Thank you so much for your help!

I tried the Intel driver installation and I had to install Java for it to work, but even after downloading Java, the search for updates failed to work. Should I try the above method you suggested to Moose?

My laptop uses Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family by the way.

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset is a bit old, but I might be able to get it working. If you could follow the instructions I gave to Moose, that would be great. Thanks!

Hey, game now loads! Only had to run to step 6.

Only issue is character just appears as a black shadow rather than being coloured as the game is, will reload and see if that continues.

I'm glad to hear it works! I pushed the update to everyone now. I am disappointed about the black shadow thing. That is going to be a challenge to fix since graphical glitches are the hardest, and I can't reproduce it on my end. :-/ We will try to sort it all out, but it might take some time.

I'm also not seeing all textures I don't think, as things like the shadows from outside in the first nightmare [as was in the demo] are not visible to me. Not sure if this will continue but seemed to be the case in the first 10ish mins.
Infinitap Games  [developer] Sep 28, 2014 @ 5:57pm
Did it work in the demo and it doesn't work now, or did you just see someone else play through the game, so you know what to expect? Can you take a screenshot for the hallway you are talking about? That would be a big help to me.

Thanks, and I'm so sorry for all the problems. :(
Moose Sep 28, 2014 @ 6:07pm
I saw the demo and also another person playing the full version yesterday.

It continued as well so when I was supposed to be surprised by a dark room, get candle see boy, I could see him fully immediately as the shadow was not overlayed. Will get a screen cap a bit later.
Infinitap Games  [developer] Sep 28, 2014 @ 6:11pm
Geez. It sounds like we have lots of problems. Do you see the shadow overlay ordinarily but it was just gone in that room, or does the shadow overlay not show up at all?
Moose Sep 28, 2014 @ 6:17pm
I think the shadow overlay may just not be there, as it wasn't down by the axe either, or showing through the windows in that hallway.
Infinitap Games  [developer] Sep 28, 2014 @ 6:22pm
Well crap. The game is kind of ruined without the shadows. :'(
