Problems Playing KW2B? Crashes e.t.c? Look Here

Welcome to Kingdom Wars II Battles, and if you are reading this post I`m guessing you're off to a bad start . Please keep in mind that these bugs only effect less than 1% of our players. But we are fully dedicated to making sure everyone can run the game.

Well lets try to get this resolved for you now shall we. Please check below for various symptoms and solutions.

Fix for bad performance on systems with dual video cards
=========================================
-Go to the NVIDIA/ATI Control Panel by right clicking on your desk top and clicking on "NVIDIA Control Panel".
-In the default screen that pops up (it should be "manage 3D settings", and the "Program Settings" tab should be automatically selected), under "1. Select a program to customize:" hit the "Add" button.
- From here, navigate to the MKW.exe. Typically located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KW2 Battles\KW2B.exe Select it, and open.
- Then, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" open the drop-down menu and select "High-performance NVIDIA/ATI processor".
- Finally, hit apply in the far bottom right corner, and you should be good to go!

Crashing every 10-20 minutes
=========================================
If you are crashing every 10-20 minutes, especially if it`s in singleplayer campaign, your one of a small number of players effected by a rare bug, you would need to change your Language to English in the Main Menu Options, and continue playing in English to avoid crashes

My Client crashes All the Time
Please follow the following steps:
1) Bring up Task Manager, Go to Processes, and if PnkBstr process is running please disable it
2) Delete your KW2B user folder
-Click on the organizer button in any folder. And select Folder and Search options. Go to view, and under Hidden Files and Folders, or Drives - click show hidden files.
-Now navigate to C:/users/YOUR USERNAME/AppData/local/KT/
-Delete that entire KT folder
3) If you are not playing on high visual settings, try check-marking all the items on the left in the options, but leaving Water/Shadow/Draw Distance on your current lower settings

Mouse Doesn't work in-game
1) Go to Windows Control Panel, look up Font and Icon size options
2) Setting icons/fonts to medium size
3) If that doesn't work - you might need to restart your computer
4) If you have a fancy mouse with it's own acceleration software - try disabling it
FOR WINDOWS 10 - Right click on Desktop, choose Display Settings, and slide the "change the size of text, and other items" slider down to 100%.

Game language switched to Russian or other
If you see that the game is not in the language you`ve selected, follow these steps
1) In the Main menu click on the Options button (2nd from the top on the right)
2) In the Language drop down - middle of the options menu, select English
3) Restart the game

Main menu says - Version Incorrect and that you need to Patch the game
1) Right click on Kingdom Wars 2 Battles name in your Steam library, and select Properties
2) Switch to Updates tab, and select - Always keep this game up to date
3) Wait a minute, or if game didn`t update, restart steam (completely shut it down and start it again)



Connection Timed Out error
If you get this error when creating your account or trying to login to your town, please try the following
1) Restart your computer - in most cases it`ll fix this issue
2) Restart your Internet Modem/Router - turn power off, wait 10 seconds, turn on. Wait 5 minutes after
3) Disable Anti Virus and Firewall - and if that works, re-enabled it and set KW2B.exe and or Mithrill.dll as exception


Before trying anything else for startup crashing problems please try this
Re-Validating game files on Steam may often fix start-up issues as well as help player who are experience frequents crashes and other bugs
1) Open Steam find Kingdom Wars 2 Battles in the Library
2) Right click on the game name, and go to Game Properties
3) In Game properties click on Local Files, and select Re-validate game files.


Game Crashes on Startup on First Run
If you are getting a crash the first time you are starting KW2B, please follow these steps
1) make sure you restart the computer before playing - if you haven`t this could cause that.
2) Disable Anti Virus and Firewall - and if that works set KW2B.exe and or Mithrill.dll as exception
3) Try installing C runtime libraries. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
4) Try getting the latest .Net Framework For Desktop - http://www.microsoft.com/net/download
5) Uninstall the game on Steam (delete local files), and re-download
6) Set Administrative Permissions
-Go to your steam directory ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kingdom Wars 2 Battles
-Alter the properties of KW2B.exe
-Compatibility Tab Check "Run this program as an administrator" and also check compatibility mode for "Windows 7"
-If you get Microsoft Visual c++ error box, do not close it - just play and ignore the error


I played fine, but now it crashes on startup
To fix this you would need to delete the Local Saved Data File
1) Click on the organizer button in any folder. And select Folder and Search options. Go to view, and under Hidden Files and Folders, or Drives - click show hidden files.
2) Now navigate to C:/users/YOUR USERNAME/AppData/local/KT/
3) In that file, locate and delete file called local_saved_data


KW2B always crashes
To fix this you would need to either set correct Admin permissions, or set a certain folder to be NOT read-only.
1) Click on the organizer button in any folder. And select Folder and Search options. Go to view, and under Hidden Files and Folders, or Drives - click show hidden files.
2) Now navigate to C:/users/YOUR USERNAME/AppData/local/KT/, Right click on the KT folder, and select Properties
3) Un-click Read-Only, and click Apply. Select to all folders and sub-folders when prompted.
4) Set Administrative Permissions
-Go to your steam directory ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kingdom Wars 2 Battles\, right click on KW2B.exe and go to Properties
-Compatibility Tab Check "Run this program as an administrator" and also check compatibility mode for "Windows 7"
-If you get Microsoft Visual c++ error box, do not close it - just play and ignore the error

Oh, thats why i get so low fps, i got gtx 960 and in 1st mission campaign i got like 4-10 fps
i was wondering, does orcs are allways on map? cus a large amount of them can help lagging, or are they spawning at time of invasion?

the game has a serious loading issus stating video you just have to let it sit till it figers out what its doing also ones thats done enter a name would be simple if it didnt auto fill a file name from my HHD for some reason.
sorry was going to edit this sooner havent had any major probs for a while i like this game good for killing time :P

i have an issue when playing single player: video in campain going infinite loop once my population hits only 1

my game crashes after playing like 30 minutes in single player AND in multiplayeer. it dosn't matter what mode i play. survival. costum. campain. it always crashes after 30-40 min. how can i fix this? cuzz most of the time i had almost destroyd the enemy base and then it crashes so i dont get any achievements or items and thats very annoying..

Dual display also increases crashes, so with me what helped a lot is to disable one screen & use only one screen.

Also check your average cpu/gpu temperature is not too high, less then 75 degrees should be fine.

I used two server fans blowing into my Y50 laptop & the temp average while gaming is 65 degrees

List updated with the fix for the heavy lag on NVIDIA card systems (chances are there`s is a second integrated video card, that windows is trying to get KW2B to run on)

Kw2b.exe Norton keeps blocking the file saying it has a virus ????

This is a false positive, please add KW2B.exe to the list of exceptions.
