Other than that, Jost is right - Win10 has issues currently. I noticed it with my gf's laptop, which is on Win10 right now and it does create some gaming issues - especially in 7 Days.
I don't think its because of the Creators update. I've run SFC, uninstalled all the extra garbage and disabled a bunch of the random crap that comes with it. I don't have perf issues like this in any other games whatsoever.
I also have the hitching in single player. Exact same issue.
Apparently on some configurations, no matter how pawerful, people get stuttering.
There are ways to tone it down (like disk defrag and such) but no real way to remove it.
I hope it gets better with A17 since they're migrating the game to Unity 2017.
Run it at 1080P bet you that hitching is gone. Optimizations come later on in the development....
I know they come later in dev, I even say that in OP, just wondering if it happened to be a solvable issue. I tried 1080p and have the exact same issues. I even tried 720p and it was no better. Again, my framerate is great all the time, even on max settings 1440p, but that doesnt stop the hitching from rolling by.
Seems like it may just be an issue I gotta wait to get fixed.
what removed most of the stuttering / hitchings was powring off the blade traps attached to solar panels. It may or may not be your case, but I was going mad cause I had awesome fps outside base, while horrible stutter inside, and it fixed it.
Oh, I emailed myself all those "fixes" I found, so after some formatting, I thought I could paste it here, maybe it helps somebody!
"- Enable GLCore Renderer in the game launcher
- Disable Voice Chat in the sounds options
- Disable EAC (if only play SP)
- Disable SSAO in the graphic settings
-run 7 days to die_eac.exe
-reinstall / verify
-turn vsync off
-Find the 7DTD exe (both of them) then Right Click -> Properties > Compatibility, check the box "Disable fullscreen optimizations" apply and play.
-Try turning on "Exclusive fullscreen" mode in 7days launchmen
-disble nvidia profile
-change to quality
-uma texture not high, medium or low
-If you use full size textures, you have to go into video settings, and press the OK button. Don't change anything, just apply current settings. It's been like this for a very long time, not sure when/if they are going to fix it. That one step along can increase fps significantly.
-turn UNET off
-Use the game launcher, go to tools, and clean up your game data before playing the experimental.
-windows defender off
-try reducing your Pre-rendered frames, which will allot less work to the CPU
-disable exclusive fullscreen in launcher (instead of enabling)
-Turn off shadows as well.
-Use the server tool and run the server on the same rig as as the client. for whatever reason it runs better. lees stuttering.
-disable nvidia telemetry..."
I'll link it for future replies so it's easier to help people. :-]
My mate with even a better rig than mine had the same result, so I think it's a conclusion it works in some cases.
The other fixes have worked for some others as well, in the threads or guides I found, so if anybody wants to try "all they can", that list can become handy hehe
Still excited for further optimizations as development continues. :)
