M1 Garand? They should add it in a future update!
Imagine if, in a future update, you could read a book and learn how to make a M1 Garand (the originals used in World War 2)!

Simple to make like the hunting rifle and the bullets are not too resource consuming either.

It would be awesome! 8 rounds and then "ping" when the clip hits any thing hard or metal it makes that sound and you know you are zombie chow.

Anyone else think it would be cool?

Would be an interesting addition. This game needs to be careful when adding guns as to not overload the loot tables, but this one I think I can get behind.

Just don't want things to get like DayZ. You'll have 5 boxes of ammo for guns you'll never find, magazines/clips for guns you'll never find, parts for other guns that don't even match your ammo type, and then guns that don't match anything else. Just don't want 7 days to become that.

well rather than overloading the loot table, it's very easy to make new guns from recipes of existing parts.

You guys make a valid point on over loading the loot tables but the small amount of guns we have now is miles away from that. A little bit more weapon variety would be nice, Instead of the M1 Garand I would say the M14 would be a much better choice, as it uses the same ammo as the hunting rifle and is a very very common gun now days. (Thanks Norinco! Love my M14s)

On the subject of weapons I REALLY hope they will make the different quality weapon and armour parts have variying looks so we don't have to be stuck with the same old guns and have some gear personalisation that we can be proud of. Just think of it like this, If a poor quality pistol looks exactly the same as a legenday one... that would be just plan stupid. Obviously the poor quailty one should be pretty rusty, and possibly be missing the iron sights. I doubt they will do this for alpha 11 but hopefully in the future!

I like the ideas here. M1, yes please. M14, also yes please. Varrying apearance of armor and weapon qualites, would be awesome when they have time for it.

I'm not worried about the loot tables here. Storage is vastly better here then DayZ, having many parts wont be too much of a problem, especially when they implement shopping carts, cars and the minibike. The more sweet loots the better imo. I'd actually love to see more item stats and RNG, although itll probably never happen.

I know DayZ sucks, but this is a voxel crafting/survival game and is really quite different. I dont see the fear of this game "becoming DayZ" as rational.
Would like to see the M1 Grand replace the current WW1 single shot rifle. The type of weapon that the bremmington emulates has not been used for many years. Hope the Alpha 11 has something better.
It not like the M1 Garand is a new weapon, it was introduced in 1936 and used mostly for drill now.
I would rather see a winchester 30/30 lever action rifle, Gold Plated, the gun that won the ZED War.
I gotta say the M1 seems to be an inter-gun between the bolt action hunting rifle and the sniper rifle; as the game goes on in development we "might" need something like that. However, at this moment, we have enough guns to serve specific purpose.

Has nothing to do with the game becoming DayZ. I was only using that as an example. But this game isn't really designed to have a vast amount of guns. The specific names of guns should always be left out. You should have an SMG as we do. But keep it called the SMG. Add an Assault rifle and call it that. The idea here then is that you'll have only the one. Then afterwards, let the modders design and add in weapon skin options to allow players to change that weapon to their favorite gun, preventing us from having a crate of gunt parts that don't match while still letting people have their favorites. Akin to how L4D2 was, modded gun skins that didn't really change the gun itself other than the model/skin.
I think that when they make new weapons, they just need to have them using existing ammo types instead of their own new ammo. That way, it won't overload the loot tables, and you can still find tons of ammo.
Winchester?
As some scoped, large magazine hunting rifle...
Yeah Winchester all the way or the more powerfull version they had in fallout new vegas.
It also just occured to me that TFP should add several "generic" gun parts, and have all of the guns they add use a mix of similar gun parts and the generic ones to fill in any gaps. As for ammo, unlike in DayZ, you can reload generic bullet casings.
