hunting needs fixing

not sure what changed between now and the last time i played (2.1 or 2.0 ) but hunting small animals is impossible...
with a leaver action rifle i kill the chicken or rabbit and the corpse goes flying into the air and away from me....
i was able to retrieve 1 out of 7 animals and only got like 5 meat and 2 leather even with the perks to give more leather and meat...
is this a bug of some sort?

I can't remember the last time I saw a deer, and rabbit/chickens fly off into the horizon when shot, never to be seen again.

They're highly nocturnal now. I got the second level of animal tracker for the first time, and I can say they're out there in the pine forest.

This happens with higher end bows and crossbows too.

However, nothing launches a bunny, chicken or coyote into high orbit better than a tier 6 stun baton with the repulser mod installed.

Yeah, I got level 1 to try and help, I will have to go further, if I can spare the points.

It's actually pretty cool that it has a use now.
