Toggle Sprint OFF option
What it says. We need it. Sprint lock option but no toggle? plz

EDIT: For clarification. Option to disable the Duel Purpose of the Sprint Key. Option to Toggle it on or off. I don't like it and so do my 5 friends who I currently have a server with.

Sadly, as with many games, the developers seem to insist on giving no option to change it.
But luckily, Modders step in to pick up the slack.

Shift only works by being pressed, never stays on by itself.

Sprint key has dual function, short taps toggle it on & off, long press works like momentary key and you sprint while the key is pressed and stop sprinting when the key is released.

And yet no toggle to turn it off. That's the purpose of this post.

What do you mean? First tap toggles it on, second tap toggles it off. If you don't like to use the toggle you can just keep the sprint key pressed and it works like momentary sprint key, you stop sprinting when you release the key.

Yeah I'm not a fan of trying to momentarily sprint away from a Z during melee only to find that I'm now sprinting to my doom despite taking my finger off Shift. The only time I like the toggle-Shift option is when I'm on a vehicle. I'm guessing the feature is more for players that just play 7DtD as a FPS, so their stamina isn't important since they're always just shooting.

I hate the toggle as well, that needs to be removed to another keybind or be able to be turned off.

It absolutely doesn't need to be moved to another keybind and it shouldn't be. The way it works now is exactly how it should work and I think most players are happy with it. Adding a setting to shut that option off or to move the functions to two separate keys for those that don't like it would be fine.
This goes on discussions with three other FPS games I'm playing, and people go crazy about that same thing there too. The fact that they are not able to make the brain switch from one simple thing to another is insane.

Devs here even managed to make a DUAL function- you don't even need to change anything in controls, or settings, yet it still doesn't suit some people.

The mad world.

i myself prefer a always sprint option/key that won't turn off but i can live with what the devs designed

That's not toggle. That stops you from sprinting when letting go of a movement key. We're looking for an option to disable TOGGLE sprint entirely.

I fail to see the purpose of this request.
Personally i didnt "discover" that the toggle option was implemented for months after the fact due to me using it like i always have holding it down when i want to sprint and letting go when i want to walk.

is it because you want to never run or always run? I see problems with both options.

Altho to never run you just have to remove the key for sprinting or set it to one you never use.
If you always want to run, then the option pointed out by SylenThunder will enable you to keep sprint on without the need to toggle it again after letting go of the movement key. effectively leaving sprint on permanently.

If neither of those options are what you seek, then the key as it is now will function as one without toggle unless you need to use it for 0.1 sec bursts only.

I dont see how this can be an issue when it is unnoticable for normal play.

Maybe you could try to better explain what you need, and in what situation having the toggle option is a problem? "We need it" doesnt really explain much.

I dont see how implementing an option simmilar to what we have with weaponaiming (hold or hold+toogle) would cause a problem for anyone, but i dont see why it is important enough to use resources on implementing either.

Some don't like the Duel purpose Toggle Sprint option and some do. My friends and I don't. That 0.1 of sprint can be a deciding factor if you get hit or not and is a viable strategy for melee builds. It's rather annoying. There are plenty of instances where friends died because of the Toggle Sprint. We need a QOL update for the option to disable Toggle Sprint entirely.

That option disables the "Sprint Lock" feature. Which is the toggle that locks you into sprint. Which sounds exactly like what the subject of your thread is about.

Not the Sprint Lock staying after you release movement keys. Disabling the Toggle Sprint entirely. Example. I tap it. I Sprint for duration pressed. Not continually sprinting unless I depress movement keys. Also, we still move faster using WA / WD while walking. (<< not a complaint but an observation) Not sure about controller.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
