7 Days to Die
Farm Plots are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke
I recently came back to the game and I'm pretty shocked by how bad you messed up farming. It used to work fine.

If you want to make more farming options, hydroponics, indoor/underground farming whatever, that's cool, but you've taken a system that worked perfectly fine and completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up.

It would be easier to take if it wasn't so stupid. There's plenty of dirt in the game and we used to have ways to shape it, which was pretty fun, and which should be all you need to make a farm, common sense wise.

Now we gotta "construct" some expensive square of magical dirt before we can experience the magic of making a seed grow.

Please... Don't make your game this dumb. At least give us back the option of doing it the old way.

Farm plots make rotten flesh useful. Thats enough to like them.. I played darkness falls mod earlier this month and it goes back to the till ground system and I hated it.

If you want tilling the ground, feeding the crops water with a rain barrel, that mod has it. And fruit trees,

You mean you aren't supposed to eat Rotting Flesh?

Hello everyone, there is a new mod that lets you farm underground. We implemented this on our PvP server and everyone is happy. :steamhappy:

Many of us play Vanilla, no mods but it's cool people want to support the game. People grow starter greens in their basements for profit IRL so farming underground should be totally possible in Vanilla.

Yap this was a horrific change, this game is getting so bad now with all the changes I can't even enjoy it anymore, Who thought adding more structures to the game was a good idea. Not being able to plant your crops on the ground is just plan stupid. I hate it so much i had to change my review to negative after years of enjoyment, This game has turned into a pile of steaming horse crap.
It kind of has, in many ways.
This system is the best farming has every been... and you can even move your farm plots afters setting them, and put them at ground level if it bothers you.

Dirt is not just dirt, plus any dirt I dig in the game is actually clay, lel.

Just assume that the soil is stripped and needs to be revitalized, which is why you need the rotten meat and potassium nitrate.

:trollface_boulder:
If you don't like farm plots play the darkness falls mod.
I dislike the simplicity of farming, the idea of not being able to plant in topsoil, the overall triviality of survival aspects, and the exclusive focus on the (non-challenging and repetitive) combat.

New farming is dumb, so is old farming. Why can't someone just deliver the food directly to my mouth like in America?! I want to push the button on my phone and be not-hungry in 10-15minutes.

ps, the HawianShirt tourist zombie was modeled after me. :D
Lets make some lore up to please you..... the ground is irradiated form the nukes that were dropped ... so you have to make plots of soil that have been cleansed......

Problem solved you can move on with your game now.

No need to thank me.

Haven't planted crops on the ground since A17. What a PITA to run outside. Here's my last outdoor crop in 7D2D. Replaced by 600 indoor plots 26 blocks off the ground, near my crafting area.
I liked the old crop style better since it was a bit more "realistic", but the plots can be added seamlessly to builds (assuming you're not trying to use them structurally) for a clean look.

I personally liked the *feeling* of hoeing the ground into those neat rows (I'm talking A10-A12, here, IIRC), as well as the look of it, but the farm plots are nice because, as mentioned, their portability. Whack them with a shovel and it's in your pocket to move ... so it's not like you have to remake them all the time, once you've made some. And if one likes mini rooftop or indoor gardens, the planterboxes make some sense there, in a fashion.

If you don't like the planterbox look, just dig one block down into leveled dirt and stick them in there ... at least then they'll mostly look like a flat field.

I dunno...I sorta get missing the old methods but at the same time I don't have an issue with the new one, either. I never played any versions where water was actually required - being able to build a sprinkler system that gave bonuses to the crops in some way might be cool, something like that.
