This pretty much sums it up. Instead of saying the game isn't fair, just learn from your mistakes.
Sure, the animal packs can take you by surprise if you don't know about them, and to pay attention to the possibility of them spawning, but they are ultimately avoidable if you're playing well.
Now that you have died to them, because you've found out they can be quiet when moving around, hopefully you won't spend many minutes staring at the ground while farming, or digging, or mining, or what have you. It's common FPS behavior to check your surrounding regularly, anyways, and ALL hordes spawn at distance. On my current settings, they always seem to appear a short distance beyond my view range, which will always give me plenty of time to react.
In order to see a dog pack comming, you'd have to always be in highground and not harvesting/mining/digging in the open. I go caught by a pack while I was digging clay by a hill, they came from the other side. The only way I could have seen them was if I were not digging, but looking 360° arround me all the time, as they run fast and don't give enough time to look twice. This was day twenty-something. I just ask for barks or any sign to make it fair, because they spawn and run towards your location. They were not just there and I carelessly came across them, they were put there to kill me.
Random hordes/dog packs spawns usually when you mine, a moment where your attention is on other things and you cannot mine AND look arround at the same time. At least give me a warning
In the later game you will have full iron armor. They get in at most one hit and you start running, then turn, backpeddle, and use your bow with steel arrows. You can backpeddle faster than dogs can run forward. Done and done.
In the early game when you are vulnerable. First, though I know it's not a popular reply, it doesn't hurt to look around every now and then. If you are working in one area like a pit, or mine entrance, put barbed wire or wood spikes around it - or around the side you won't be facing anyway. The dogs will yelp when they get hurt, and there's your warning. Wood spikes are super duper cheap to craft on the fly. And you can carry 6000 wood with you.
Or you can just put up a temporary wall around where you are working. Cobblestone is ultra ultra cheap to make, a few clay and stone and you have tons of the stuff. Even in the early game you are literally surrounded by the ingredients. And you can carry a stack of 500 blocks (which is a little unrealistic imo, lol). Put up a small wall two blocks high around where you will be working while not paying attention. It takes seconds and costs - literally - dirt. Done. "Problem" solved.
I could go on, but a large part of the fun of this game is coming up with creative solutions to problems. If something is bothering you, put some creative thought into it.
If you are having problems being stunned by something, drink alcohol during the periods when you won't be paying attention. That will help with your stamina while mining too.
If all else fails, play on a lower difficulty.
Honestly, I get pack spawns all the time. By default, at least one spawns every 5 days. But I never have these problems. They do sometimes bark or howl, but not always. The thing is, they are still predator-type enemies, and realisically a predator isn't going to signal its apporach when hunting prey.
Since you're apparently no good at staying alert, do the following:
If you're farming, don't farm in the open. Farm on a roof.
If you're mining, mine in the ground, not on the surface.
If you're doing something that absolutely requires you to be on the surface, like digging clay I guess, place deterrents. You can carry around a bunch of wood frames and throw down a small wall in, say, a 10x10 area, do your business, and then pick them back up and move on.
Honestly, though, you can solve all of your problems by being more aware of your surroundings.
So there are NO enemies in your games? What are you playing for at this point? XD
Minecraft has no enemies except in the dark which is something you can control. People enjoys hours and hours in Minecraft, building, mining, exploring, etc. Why not in 7FTD?
One thing I've noticed though, the regular animal spawns are ultra low, almost non-existent. Even when enemies are on. In older versions, there were more animals.
Yeah, but Minecraft isn't centrally about the enemies, imo. 7DTD is kind of all about the zombies... the title heavily implies it.
Just seems like this game would be hopelessly boring without bad guys O_o not even that good of a 'creative builder'. Plenty of other games do that better.
Ok. And for me, it's fun. So IDK different people I guess?
Yep. Just the first person I've met that plays with no enemies. Struck me as strange in a game that revolves around them.
No one cares about your game achievements and you keep replying to this thread for 4 days straight. I haven't even thought about the game since my post and couldn't care about one death. Playing other games that are complete and where if i died, i know that i messed up due to skill instead of trying to cheese the enemy AI to death.
You mean the half dozen people posting that dog and bear packs are quite manageable and a fun part of the game, and you weren't paying attention? We were trying to help. And we are replying other people now, like joe78man. It may surprise you to learn that there's more than just you on this forum, and even this thread. Imagine that!. :)
I think switching to a much easier game was probably the right choice for someone like you. Cheers, and good luck with the new game!
So, if you die in 7DTD, it is most definitely because your skills or preparedness weren't up to par.
Especially during the day, when 90% of the enemies you come across can't do anything more than slowly stumble in your direction. The thing that killed you was one of the very few daylight situations that pose any threat at all.
Maybe you just got too used to slow-walking zombies and weren't prepared for wolves trying to eat your feet?
Nope. I play Killing Floor, Killing Floor 2, Left for dead 1 & 2, where the zombies all run at you. Guess what, those are complete games.
I honestly dont care what you play, but you seem awfully seem to care what i play. Like game are some kind of measurement of a person's value. (easier, hardcore games) how you seem to put it. So ill forget this game and play games I like.
So yeah ill be playing Killing Floor, Killing Floor 2 on Hell on Earth mode, Left for dead 1 & 2. And guess what, those are complete games. And guess what? boss zombies and hordes always scream to let you know before spawning 100+ zombies to run at you. No silent hordes and bears clipping through doors.
Silent? Hate to tell you but KF2 has invisible enemies. :D And you're mad about a bear? btw, I play KF1 and KF2, and no one at all says "Hell on Earth mode", it's just HoE. I just prestiged several of my perks. HoE was pretty much a cakewalk, but it got harder with the new patch that increased spawning rate and edars.
Look, you are angry. Don't be. You died to a bear. Some people tried to let you know how to handle it. You stormed away in a huff, and for some reason keep checking this thread where we are talking about other things to other people now. It's no big deal. Honest. Maybe I'll see you around on KF2.
