Zombies can break metal?
I mean, their flesh and bone like us. if you shoot a person at sufficient speeds you can eventually dent an I beam but no amount of punching should ever break metal.

It's a game and trying to force real world limitations on an imaginary thing (zombies) doesn't make any sense.

Men can't chop up boulders in 10 seconds with a stone axe, carry 10 car engines, regenerate severe wounds in a few minutes, or respawn after death either. If you remove everything that is "unrealistic", the game would become very boring.

It's a game. For balance reasons, not everything can make sense. If they can't damage metal, then you could cube yourself in a box, and never get hurt. There's no gameplay value in that. Think of a spectrum. You got realism on one end, and fun on another end. You need to move the slider back and forth until you find that sweet spot.

is there anything the zombies can't break? I don't want my end base ruined and overun 30+ hours in.

you can change the how much damage a zombie does to blocks. I always lower it to min because i also find it stupid silly they can punch through reinforced concrete in 20 secs

They can't break the trading post.

You shouldn't have any problem with your base. They won't damage it when you're gone, and if they attack it while you're there, you go outside and bust some heads.

Do you also tweak your inventory to be way smaller? I mean, it is "stupid silly" that you can carry stacks of 6,000 rocks/wood/etc, 30 engines...just sayin'.

Everything in the world can break, except the traders, and the bedrock.

My honest advice is use creativity and cleverness to make a base. Zombies can't break creativity. And it's the one thing you bring into the game yourself.

They can break anything you make. That being said the point of the entire game is tower defense. You're game stage keeps going up and up making each defense harder and harder. In theory eventually they will get through and get to you.

Or make a trader base and never lose it again, i think either Bloodstalker or mike mofopope, i forgot which one, on youtube has a video on how too do it.
Basically you can build a base very close to the trader base and zombies won't be able to hurt it since the trader aura protects it.

If the zombie can hit as hard as a sledge hammer, why not?

The only difference between a zombie and a non-zombie ... enjoying the pain. A person can punch metal eventually weakening it, but most likely will stop punching the metal after they collapse from shock and pain.

Zombies feel pain? ... Sure, we shoot them and they go "OWwwww". Zombies in this game have 100% resistance against self mutilation, they don't get hurt and they don't self heal unless you're a radiated ... but wait ....

How do you stop a zombie from digging? Make it allergic to dirt.
Smash anything (like dirt), it takes damage, eventually dying from it's own rage.
Only the radiated can survive it's own smashing of blocks.
Therefore, only the radiated can dig (or smash) their way into the base.

Don't mod the damage gentlemen, but give the human zombie back his human characteristics.

Only problem .... Player's would complain they didn't get XP on horde night. They don't care that they survived, they only care the zombie (by himself) ... stole their XP.

:P

game balance almost always trumps real logic, I mean is it really practical to take over a metal building put iron on the windows and be safe from zombies forever? Its sort of like going into Halo and wondering why masterchief never pees or why no one in CSGO gets leg cramps bunny hopping around the map the whole match.

That is not possible. The trader protection radius also prevents you from placing blocks in its range. You can't build anywhere the trader is protected.
