SteamVR - Big Picture and Desktop Panels. Is it working for anyone?

I thought that with the new Desktop Panel in SteamVR beta, we might finally have a way to watch video in VR in Linux - even if it was only on a non-scalable panel:

It doesn't work for me, though. I can spawn the other panels, but not Big Picture and Desktop Panels. They don't show up when I try.

I can't say that I'm surprised - but is it just me, or is it working for anybody else?

Is this working yet? Or anything like Virtual Desktop available for Linux yet?

It works for me. When I press the menu button I get the overlay steam panel appearing, I can click the desktop button at the bottom and manipulate the desktop environment with the vr controller. Also get big picture mode.

I haven't tried watching any videos though.

@madmachinations: I think you're describing the normal Desktop overlay. That works for me as well (most of the time).

My original post was about choosing "My Desktop" as a panel in a SteamVR Home environment.

If you open the menu while in a SteamVR Home environment, and choose Items and then Panels - and select My Desktop, does it work for you?

If I do it, Steam and Ubuntu freezes, and I have to restart my PC.

I was so hopeful when I tried to place my desktop windows to my room... only for VR to crash... I hope it's caused by those 2 libs I'm currently missing...

I can only spawn in the desktop panels in steam home, not in the dashboard, and they render upsidown for some reason
