I wonder if the freeze may be specific to Pascal GPUs then.
- renamed the ~/.steam/steam/config/SteamVR and let it recreate it self
- removed everything in ~/.nv/GLCache
- sudo setcap cap_sys_nice+eip on /path/to/steamapps/common/SteamVR/bin/linux64/vrcompositor-launcher (afaik this is not even required on nvidia - in any case getcap was empty)
- recovered an old backup of ~/.steam/steam/config/steamvr.vrsettings
haven't looked in detail what might have been the issue, but BeatSaber is buttersmooth again.
I can exclude both nvidia-430.14-3 and BeatSaber 1.0 version, because it still stuttered before above changes. good luck
