Oculus and vive conflict
Hello

Well, I recieved my rift today after several months of waiting and am rather happy with it. The oculus store runs fine and the device itself runs great. However, I also have a vive

Before I had my cv1, I was obviously able to run steam vr without any issues at all. The apps worked well and the system itelf is brilliant

However, when I close oculus to open up steam vr to use my vive, it then reboots the rift and completely ignores my vive, even with the base stations on. It simply sees the rift as the headset and doesn't ignore it.

I have both devices plugged in and when I used my dk2, this all worked fine before I had these issues. I think it's the fact that oculus home boots whenever I try to launch steam vr.

If anyone knows how to resolve this issue, I'll be greatful indeed

Thanks

Barry

We have a similar problem although we had the Vive first and were using it without issues. Now we just got the Oculus Rift and want to set it up on the same computer and Steam account that we use for the Vive. Using the Oculus Rift outside of Steam is fine. But within SteamVR, it shows the Oculus Rift sensor, controller, and headset, but when you put on the headset you get an error saying you need to set it up (even though we already successfully set it up outside of Steam). But the set up defaults to the Vive (even though the Vive lighthouses/controls/headset are not connected to the computer at all) and it errors out. Additionally, when using the Oculus Rift headset you will see the Vive environment.

We had purchased some Oculus Rift games on Steam ahead of receiving the Oculus Rift and now we are worried we won't be able to get the Rift running in Steam VR.

Thank you for your response. I have somewhat managed to resolve the issue by unplugging the rift usb and the camera before starting steam vr. This somehow manages to stop the conflict but when using steam games on oculus, I find it to be very unusual as some games seem to start while others don't. You may have to set it up inside of steam vr in order to get it functioning correctly though even though you've set it up within oculus

I hope this helps
