failed to terminate vrserver.exe error?
I just reinstalled the Vive software and now I cant start SteamVR.

try and run steam as administrator and see if it works. i had the same type of issue when i moved steam to a new hard drive.

getting the same issue, only just started occuring. was working fine an hour ago

I solved the issue by uninstalling the Vive software and SteamVR and then reinstalling SteamVR. Don't know if this will help everyone out though.

Just open the Task Manager, select vrserver and end the task.

I just started getting this error too. I went to the task manager and closed vrserver then went to steamvr setting and went to a nonbeta build. It's working again!

Ending vrserver.exe in task manager worked for me as well. I get this message constantly when starting SteamVR

Of course it work. The problem is it will do the same when you start up your PC the next day.

Using the task manager is a usable workaround, but what is going on here? Why is steam attempting to terminate vrserver.exe when you press the vr button to start vr services, and what is keeping it from being able to do so? Even more importantly is there a more permanent fix.

I have tried running steam as administrator, but that did not help. I have played with altering permissions to vrserver.exe, again with no luck.
