Welcome to the spoiled kids of today. Shovel Knight is a sendback to the NES days; where NOTHING was explained to you; the key point is die, and learn from your mistakes. Don't come onto the forums whining about how the game makes you experiment; because gamers who grew up on this style of gameplay will give you no sympathy. It's refreshing to have a game that actually provides a challenge and doesn't auto-save every 2 seconds and give you baby step tutorials.
Experiment with items in safe places like the village so you can learn what they do; than go to an easy stage like "The Passage" and test it out to see what's different.
But the game isn't even hard. Or very cryptic either for that matter.
The only thing I could legit expect someone would use a guide for is on a few of the secrets. But even then, very few of them are actually difficult to find.
Reminds me of how some people complains in the Hand of Fate forum.
Suddenly the last boss is actually fairly difficult and the cry babies come out and demand full heals, stronger weapons and less attacks that do less damage.
This part you had to do it twice midair which I didn't even know was possible until I watched a play through
Once you get used to the mechanics and and get a feel for your little shovel bro you'll do much better :). Keep at it my friend, don't worry about the negativity in this thread, everyones a different type of gamer. Goodluck!
