The Weirdest Bug In Video Games History, I'm Stuck With the Game Forever!
After that 1mb hotfix, I launched the game and Steam crashed. Now Steam says I'm in game but actually I'm not. I couldn't find any process in task manager. I restarted the PC and it says I'm still in the game? Seriously, what the hell? Looks like I'm stuck with the game forever.

Dude you still don't know? uhhh thats part of the game.....Not sure if I should spoil it for you tho....

Anybody know how to explain it to him without spoilers?

Perhaps it's your AV blocking the game? Avast 2015's Deep Screen is known to mess up with the process.

I have the same problem. When I press play the game doesn't start, its says Steam bootstrapper (whatever it is) doesn't respond. Only, for me, the game shows as running in the task manager, but I can't kill it from there for some reason.
Never had this problem before this last patch (in the early access). Always played just fine for me, please help.

Even if it's the AV, how can it be possible Steam says I'm still in game even after I restart the PC? I didn't even launch the game after I restart the PC. But it's still there, it says the game running but I didn't even launch it. If i try to launch it says the game already running. No process in task manager etc..

I don't know how to explain this really. I would like this bug though, if it lets me play the game...

I now have like 6 Underrails running in my task manager :) They all use 0 CPU power though

We are doomed...

Can you play the game?

Same here...... how do I get around this?

Nope, I can't play Underrail, but this bug doesn't prevent me from running another game from Steam.

Yeah fortunately it lets us play another game.

I'm kinda leaning towards deleting the game files but scared of destroying my Steam completely :meatytears:

Yeah, I am guessing the last patch bungled up the game files somehow and we'll have to delete and reinstall eventually, but let's wait for Styg's reply :)

As I said, it's probably AV being overzealous. I had the similar experience with Avast 2015 when Deep Screen was turned on. It would eventually crash the Steam client.

What worked for me: restarted my comp to get rid of the Underrails in the task manager, disabled Deep screen in the settings of my Avast, deleted and reinstalled the game files. Now it's working fine. Hope this helps :)

Turned off Deep Screen after seeing this thread, but before loading 1.0.0.1 for the first time. I suppose it worked out. :conwayshrug:

I'm guessing that's what caused my issue with Conquest of Elysium 4 after its latest patch as well.

The weird thing is restarting my comp didn't help to get rid of the game (I didn't even have it in the task manager at all in the first place). I just killed off Steam, uninstalled the game and redownloaded it. Then I upgraded to Avast 2016 which seems to solve the problem.

After updating to the most recent hotfix, I now have this probelm. I could play Underrail fine previously.

I have 2 Underrails using 0% computer power in the task manager that I can't kill unless I restart my entire computer. Validated game cache, steam will launch other games.
