"get out"
Roblox has an average community, I've been on it for years, I'd know.
Any other legitimate reasons?
1.a. It looks awful. I don't just mean in the "hur its low detail" kind of looking awful. I mean it really does just look awful.
1.b. It plays awful. The controls are bad. The physics are bad. Aiming is bad. The one and only thing they did right was the building controls.
1.c. Cashcow syndrome. It's 'free', except they repeatedly extort you for money. I guarentee anyone who has spent any money on Roblox has spent more than $10. This is even more apparant with their removal of the 'free' currency.
1.d. You do not own your own server. In fact, you don't even have a server. You make something, they run it, they rule over it. You have no freedom over how your own server runs.
1.e. The community. Imagine trying to talk to that one other respectable person in the room. Except that you're also surrounded by 27 screaming idiots.
2. Anything it can do, Blockland does better.
2.a. Blockland has a very unique style to it. It's low detail, but everything looks like it belongs together. It's simple and didn't try to 'round its players for the sake of rounding them'.
2.b. It plays much better. FPS style controls. Physics are okay (player physics.) And while building takes a little bit to get used to, it's so so much faster. Especially with all the tool add-ons we have.
2.c. You buy it once. You own it forever. You do not buy your way to look better than other players. You do not buy your way into exclusive content. You do not buy your way into restricted servers. You just buy the game and then you're like any other player.
2.d. You run your own server. You have absolute freedom over everything about it aside from authentication. This allows for some great mods to be installed. And there's no intervention from higher forces, there are no game-wide rules. (Aside from obvious ♥♥♥♥ like hacking and other bad exploits)
2.e. There's still screaming idiots. Just a much smaller ratio of them. Conversation is possible with other intelligent users.
a- Check out the new update that adds realistic terrain and better lighting. Looks pretty good now, for a game with blocks at it's heart. Meshes also allow for a very realistic looking game.
b- Not sure what you're talking about since the controls are the same as most all games. Physics are generally unrealistic but can be easily scripted better (just use a "Better Physics" preset while game designing) Aiming is totally dependant on the game, as most good ones are HAND-SCRIPTED (something you can't do here). Phantom Forces, the game I'll be substituting for the very broad title "Roblox," for example, has a great aiming system. And yes, building controls are great.
c- There is absolutely no "extortion," I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Never once have I been asked for money by the game, ever. The only thing it will get you is some cooler clothing (optional, also they often give out free gear/clothing) and a few extra "places" (games) that you can build, along with some minor perks (can trade items with other players and upload your own to the catalog). Simple as that.
d- You don't have a server, you're right. It's a totally different system of MP. Instead, you get to design your OWN game (scripts and all, horror, FPS, you name it) and set any rules you'd like. And you do completely control how your server runs, as its your OWN GAME. You can implement bans, chat filters, whatever.
e- The community has actually gotten much better, especially if you play decent games aimed towards mature people. I've met a lot of cool people on Roblox. Same amount of "screaming idiots" (no mic chat, you can't hear them) as CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, or any other modern game.
Another quick note on mods- Roblox has no need for them since you make them yourself and play games made by other normal players. But they have them anyways when you're designing a game lol
