BC2 Hard Freezes and BSOD's
I recently installed bc2 on my computer and I have also been getting bsods and hard freezes from 20-30 minutes into the game where only a manual power off will restart the system. I read that many people have had the same issues, but I haven't found a solution yet.

I have tried updating punkbuster and also changing settings in afterburner and such, but the game continues to freeze. My computer only experiences this freezing and bsod with bc2. I have BF4, and other games that work just fine.

System spec is
4770k @ 4.5ghz
16 gb 1600mhz ram
2tb 7200 rpm hd
Asus IV Maximus Hero

Anybody have any suggestions? I would really like to play this game because the graphics are really good, and bc2 was also my favorite game on ps3.

Well I must say this has nothing to do with game but your pc. Blue screen is hardware or drivers problem.

What does it say on blue screen?
I believe it was error 0x00000101, but that only happened a few times. It was mostly hard freezes that occured. I read on the internet that a lot of it has to do with punkbuster. But I can't find a fix. Many people have this problem to; I'm wondering if anyone who has had this problem, knows of a fix of some kind.
Did a windows resource protection scan, and there are no errors according to it.

Some people had issues with onboard sound. I beleieve it was realtek drivers were the problem.

Some people found that forcing it to run on 2 cores only on quad core systems helped.

Sorry I can't be more specific than that, its been a while since I had any issues. Those were the two main fixes I remember people said worked.

Thanks, I appreciate any help. Any idea how to make the game run on two cores?

The latest bsod was caused by driver ntoskrnl.exe (ntoskrnl.exe+ 75bc0)
and the first bsod I had was due to atikmdag.sys (atikmdag.sys+ 84e1b)

So I'm not sure what the exact issue is. I've been just getting hard freezes within 20-30 minutes, and those two bsods I mentioned only happened twice. The hard freezes stayed frozen until a manual reset.
Extra Information: I'm using amd's catalyst 14.2 beta. I don't think that would be the issue though.

Are you running MSI Afterburner? It crashes Bad Company 2 and CAN give BSOD. Punklbuster is to blame.
I found the problem. It was realtek hd audio manager. I tried disabling it, and it works like a charm. I can hear the sound through my g930's so that's a good thing, but is there any way to disable realtek hd audio only when in game? I disabled it from start.
And yes, I am running after burner, but I disabled monitoring with bad company 2, so I don't think it was getting the same error as when I had it enabled.

Disable realtek soundcard in bios.

Well I'm not getting freezes after 20-30 minutes anymore with realtek audio manager turned off. But I recently got a hard freeze that had sound buzzing and then stopping after a while. It didn't bsod, but I'm wondering what it is now.
GPU temps stay around 63-65 degrees Celsius in game
Played stable for a good two to two and a half hours without a problem. Not sure why I froze the first time.
