The 'extras' in the game are problematic

I don't understand why the previous topic I made was deleted when I am voicing concerns about the game content and not breaking any forum rules. The suggestive fan artwork and text in the gallery are completely inappropriate. Sexualized depictions of the underage protagonists as well as captions like "I like little girls" or "incoming tentacles" are completely inappropriate, cheapen and undermine the actual game. I would appreciate the dev's response regarding this issue...

edit: to clarify, the inappropriate art is fan art by different people that is included in the in-game gallery. It is not official artwork but at the same time, it's included in the game.

I will certainly address your concerns.

In my opinion, you are correct. Some of the content in the extras would be viewed by many as inappropriate. You are also not alone: we have received multiple complaints about this issue.

It may or may not surprise you to know that I did not want to include the content you are refering to in the game. However, circumstances caused me to go against my judgement.

I could remove the offending images and text, but I would prefer not to. I don't believe in retroactive censoring, so I don't think I would remove anything unless forced to by Valve. I can tell you though that it's very unlikely that any similar content will be included in future games from us.

I'm sorry I can't give a better explaination as to why the content is in the game. Doing so would amount to pointing fingers and I would really rather not do that.

I really liked the extra artwork, but I can see why some people would be offended. Very profesional responce too, kudos Dischan, I really look forward to your next project. This VN is one of the most enjoyable western examples I've played.

Fair enough, my original post was pretty... colorful. The fan artwork took me by surprise and that post was written less than 5 minutes after seeing it. I apologize for that.

I'm glad to hear similar content (probably) won't appear in future installments because I really enjoyed the first ep and I would like to support the rest of the game but I would never knowingly support anything that includes content of this sort, ever.

I don't know the circumstances that led adding this content to the game but whoever is responsible for it really needs to take a step back and remember how normal functioning adults in society react to this sort of material. You would have to be pretty darn desensitized to think it's acceptable to include glamour shots of 14 year olds showing their panties and looking distressed in anything that's not a niche 18+ eroge game.

Although im usaly a fan of sexualized concept art works but doing it to little girls is a bit creepy, the "i wish for a pile of little girls when i get home" is really mest up. Did not even relize it was in the extras untill i saw this post. Other then that this game was still pretty amazing, Great story,music,and artwork and im looking forward to the next episode.

I don't see it as that big of a problem. It's an fanservicy extra in a game with an animated opening that looks like anime. I could see how they could get in there, and while there is little evidence saying it would be in there it doesn't bother me too much.

I thought they were cute scenes. Didn't realize that they were risque until I saw this post. After looking again, I've seen what could be problematic. But I still think that the color composition, poses, and small details in many of the extras are laid out in an interesting manner.

I don't see any problem as long as it's not included in the actual game, and that the writer doesn't go out of his way to do nonsense fanservice or lewd segments just so he can sneak some lewd in there.

It's an extras section. Who cares? You don't have to look at it. It's not like you need to. It's MW art.

It is offical artwork put in for fan service and the creator of the game said "It may or may not surprise you to know that I did not want to include the content you are refering to in the game. However, circumstances caused me to go against my judgement."

Im gussing beacuse one of the artists behind the game wanted it in their.

But besides this one problem it really is a great game. I recomend it. Its a scifi epic.

The suggestive stuff is fan art - the in-game gallery includes both official artwork by the person who did the rest of the artwork for the game as well as fan art from different people. So it's not official artwork but at the same time it's included in the official release of the game. I added a clarification to the original post.
