A Few Questions Prior To Purchase

In my shopping basket I currently have...

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
Shift 2 Unleashed
Need for Speed Undercover
Need for Speed: SHIFT
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

...I will be purchasing two copies of the game/games I decide to get in the end as it'll be for multiplayer with a friend but I have the same multiplayer related questions for each of these games, I'm gonna post the questions in each forum as it's probably best to expect answers regarding game which the question was posted in..! The questions are:

1) Does the game have public or private multiplayer..? (Can we play just me and my friend..?)

2) Does the game support LAN..? (As we're 2 foot from each other.)

3) Is the multiplayer free roaming or only set races/courses chosen prior to selecting in a car..? (I think she'll enjoy a free roam aspect.)

4) Does the game accept a XBox 360 controller as standard..? (Not overly important but I think she'll find it easier.)

5) Would you recommend this game while currently on sale..?

I don't know about multiplayer so I'll stick to what I know. All NFS accepts x360 controller native. I use it.
I recommend Undercover for the fun and Hot Pursuit for the graphics.
I absolutely hate Shift because I'm more of an Arcade fan rather than Simulation, but that's up to you. I bought just for the hell of collection.

Shift is pretty good ,
I didn't like Hott Pursuit at all .

Shift takes more time to unlock cars and get used to the driving. there's a lot more to do in shift.
It's a little anoying at first because you don't have all the cars you would want but you can unlock cars pretty fast and the game doesn't get boring if you're into racing games.
